Around a week had passed and nothing had happened except for the improvement of my basic sword skills and a couple of small skirmishes with goblins in Urkuutz. I swear, if we weren’t around that town would be screwed. I had spent some time thinking about Zazael and who could have summoned him. I figured that not even my rival Ryu could have done it. He was strong, but definitely not stronger than me. There is definitely somebody out there that reaaally doesn’t like me or my friends. We all almost died trying to defeat him anyway. I wondered how we were going to beat whoever it was that was trying to kill us. If he could summon something that powerful, what kind of strength would he (or she) have?
It was a saturday morning and everything seemed to be perfect and silent. I had spent the entire week training night and day to try and achieve primal instinct so I was relaxing in my room, attempting to sleep in a little bit until Chris ran in the room. “We have some...visitors.” He said. “Why can’t you take care of them?” I asked. He shrugged. “They said that they wanted to fight you specifically because they heard of how strong you are.” He replied. I sighed and jumped into some clean clothes. When I walked outside there were three rather large men that looked to be human. I wasn’t sure how they managed to stumble through our magik barrier but I’d have to at least try to get them to leave. I figured since I was no where near my full strength that I’d attempt at diplomacy first. “Good morning gentlemen, what is it that gives me the honor of having you here today?” I asked. They looked at me in silence. The one in the front smirked. They all charged me at once. “Great…” I said as I sighed. Chris quickly tossed a wooden sword to me and I ran at them. “Fine then, lets dance!” I yelled. I could feel the blood rushing and the adrenaline pumping. I finally had a real fight instead of just training. I dodged their bare handed blows and strikes while simultaneously counter attacking. I struck a few blows to their heads and legs but not without consequence. I took some hits as well and without my magik I had to take the full force of them. I was only sixteen after all and my base toughness wasn’t much compared to the kind of force they were dishing out. It wasn’t long before they had me disarmed and beat to a pulp.
As they punched me and kicked me they discussed what they would do to my friends. I knew Chris would be able to handle these guys just fine and so would Megan or Alyxander but...something didn’t feel right. I looked over just enough to see Chris laying on the ground unconscious with another guy standing over him. These thugs were fighting dirty. I was so angry I was on the verge of exploding, but what could I do? I was a powerless little kid in comparison. Suddenly the thugs stopped hitting me and laughed. “Wheres the girl, huh kid?” One asked. “Yeah, I came here to have some fun.” another said. Suddenly I heard a scream coming from inside. It was Megan. I could see the lust in their eyes as they looked towards the house. “No…” I said as I coughed up some blood. I felt something from deep inside beginning to surface. It felt like a caged animal was on my insides and trying to claw its way out. “No...you stay away from her…” I said quietly. One of the thugs turned. “What was that, you piece of shit?” He said. “DEVIN, HELP!!!” Megan shrieked. I wasn’t sure why she wasn’t using her magik to take care of whoever was up there up I didn’t care. They had hurt my friends enough and I’d run out of patience. In that moment, I lost it. A purple aura exploded out of me sending the three thugs on to their back sides. I stood up and sprinted to the house. I jumped high into the air and crashed through the wall on the upper floor into Megans room. She was pinned down by a guy who seemed to be wearing some sort of pendant. “HEY!!!” I roared. I mean, I literally roared...like some sort of monster.
I momentarily wondered if this was primal instinct as the guy turned around. I grabbed him by the shirt and tried to rip him off of her. I ripped the shirt instead so I went for his throat. I noticed that the aura around me had formed the shape of some sort of beast because there was the outline of a larger hand with sharp fingers with what I figured were claws around my hand. I was cloaked in the power of some beast and it kicked ass. I accidentally pierced his jugular a bit as I picked him up and threw him out the hole in the wall I had made moments before. He fell for a moment and hit the ground. I pounced out the window and landed on top of him. I swiped and made a big gash in his throat that probably killed him on the spot. I looked over at the three other thugs who just got to their feet and the last one who was still standing over Chris. They all charged me once again but their tactic no longer worked. One of them took a swing which I met with my own fist, instantly shattering his arm. I followed up by kicking him in the chest which sent him flying into a near by tree. I noticed the two others were trying to punch me but oddly enough I didn’t even feel their attacks. I punched one of them in the nose with enough force to shatter his skull. Thankfully his head didn’t explode because that would have been disgusting. I turned and swiped at the other guy faster than he could keep up with, making large gashes on his chest. I threw him to the ground and smashed his skull with my fist. I ran on all fours and tackled the last guy and as I was about to finish him off I heard Megan scream once again. I looked up and she was screaming at me. “Devin, thats enough, its over!!!” She yelled with tears streaming down her face. I wondered why she was crying but I realized it was because I killed a bunch of helpless idiots who thought they were tough.
I went too far without realizing it and now it was over. I stood up instead of finishing the last guy off. I hadn’t even used my full power in this state and I finished them with ease. “I want you to leave and never come back, got it?” I asked the guy I had just gotten off of. He scrambled to his feet with tears on his face. Had I really just reduced a full grown man to tears? Apparently so. I had much more power than I thought in that state. The man sprinted away towards the town of urkuutz. I focused for a moment and let the blinding rage die down and when I opened my eyes, I saw a mess. A disgusting mess that I had made when I lost my mind. Alyxander was right, this was a dangerous kind of power indeed. I sensed Chris stand up, which was a relief because that meant I had accumulated some magik. I wondered if primal instinct had anything to do with it. I turned around and looked at him. He was as pale as a ghost (and believe me, in my time of living in this world, I’ve seen plenty) and his jaw had nearly hit the ground. “What the hell happened here?” Chris asked. It looked like he was shaking. He looked at me in silence. “Well...I happened; or my primal instinct did, rather.” I replied. “You did all of this?” He asked. I nodded in reply. When I looked around it really was a terrible sight to see. There was a lot of blood and only a few corpses. I really did make a disgusting mess, not to mention the giant hole in the side the house. Megan was already working on fixing it with her magik and in only a few minutes the mansion was repaired. Chris used his power to make the corpses and gore sink in to the ground. Within the span of five minutes, it was as if nothing had happened.
