It had been 4 days since the accident, and I got to go home yesterday. My x-rays showed that I had 3 broken ribs, and a fractured shoulder blade. When I got my splint off, I would have to have physical therapy, and it hurts my ribs to breathe sometimes. Morgan got home two days ago from Colorado, and she had listened to my jokes about it. The doctor had said it was lucky the cars weren't going faster, because there wouldv'e been more damage, and I wouldv'e had to be in the hospital longer.
"Ken are you hungry?" Ryland asked, and I looked up from my phone.
I had fixed myself on the couch, wearing a t shirt of Shane's, I wasn't supposed to wear fitted clothes because of the pressure on my ribs or something so that took out like all of my clothes, "Where are we getting food from?" I answered.
"I don't know. I was just gonna go to the store and get snacks." He shrugged.
"Can I have just like, assorted candies." Ryland rose an eyebrow at me, but said yes, grabbing his keys.
"Garrett and Andrew are coming over, so I'm leaving the side door unlocked, and Shane's in the shower, so if you need anything call him." I nodded and picked my phone back up.
I opened the camera, since I know knew I was alone, other than Shane and Morgan upstairs.
"Hey, everyone, so I know Shane has tweeted about it, and Ryland and Garrett and everyone, so I'm just gonna make a video about it." I turned the camera so they could see how I was laying. "This is my current situation, let me just." I took the blankets off of me, and propped my phone on the coffee table.
"I'm gonna go ahead, and tell the story from the beginning. It was like 2 in the morning and Shane and I were both up sitting in the office editing videos. And Shane was like, it's late let's go get food to take a break and when we come back, we can either go to sleep, or finish our videos. So we go, and we get our food. Before anyone even comments anything like this, no we were not vlogging, Shane wasn't on his phone at all and I was only on my phone to play music." I went to turn around to stretch my back, but it hurt my ribs, so I winced and went back to talking. "So we pulled up at a stoplight, and it turned green but me and Shane were singing so he didn't see. I said, something along the lines of the light is green drive, and he started driving and that's the last thing I remember. But the guy that hit us was drunk." I ran my hand through my hair and tried to think of what to say next, "So Garrett brought me some stuff to the hospital, and I wasn't in so much pain that I was like crying, but I it felt like it was like stinging, I guess? I was making jokes about it because they all seemed upset so it was boring, then they were all like what is the matter with you."
I laughed a little, and turned to show my right side, where all the damage was. "So the next morning I got x rays, and obviously my shoulder was messed up," I motioned to the sling, "it's fractured, and when I can get the sling off I'll have to do about a month of physical therapy to make sure nothing else was messed up and it won't need surgery. Here's the real damage, though." I lifted up the side of my shirt, "3 of my ribs were broken. Theyr'e pretty bruised. And yes this is Shane's shirt. I can't wear fitted clothes because it'll like put pressure on my ribs."
"Ken?" I heard Garrett yell.
"Living room!" I yelled back. "Guys look." I lifted the side of my shirt again to show them.
"Kendra, we saw." Garrett laughed, and pushed the shirt back down. "Are you making a video?"
"Yes I am." I answered, giving a thumbs up at the camera.
"Hi Kendra's video. Did she tell you what she said? She woke up like the morning after it, and Shane and Ryland went to get breakfast and I said I would watch her while they went right?" I laughed, knowing where the story was going, "And Kendra goes dang I feel like I got hit by a car and starts like hysterically laughing."
"I'm funny!" Andrew started laughing, and I leaned towards the camera. "Thanks you guys, bye."
I turned off the camera and went back to my spot on the couch. "Can you turn on the t.v. please."
"What do you want to watch?" Garrett asked, picking up the remote.
"Netflix, Law and Order should be my most recently watched just play that please." Garrett looked at me like I was crazy, but resumed my episode.
"Hey guys." Shane came downstairs, his hair wet. "Your'e still watching this show?"
"Leave me alone." I whined.
"Do you need medicine or anything." Shane asked, and I shook my head.
"Ryland's out getting snacks." I said, as Shane sat down.
"Sounds good." Shane pulled out his phone.
I focused on my episode, but everyone else was focused on their phones. I didn't even noticed Ryland come in until we handed me a bag of candy.
"Thank you!" I smiled, and moved over a little bit so he could sit next to me.
"I thought I told you not to watch this show, it's gonna mess with your head!" Ryland grabbed the remote and switched it to Friends, everyone then put their phones down and focused on the show.
"You guys are mean." I whined, pulling my blanket up higher.
"You like this show." Andrew laughed, and I shrugged.
"It's a good show." I mumbled, watching the characters argue over something.
"Kendra." Ryland whispered, motioning for me to scoot closer. "When do you think your gonna feel up to going back to school."
I shrugged, I missed my friends, but it kinda hurt to raise my arms, and to move around too much, and I was right handed and I couldn't really use my right arm.
"When do I have to go back?" I asked.
"Whenever your'e ready." He answered. "If you really wanted, we could start online school."
"I'll think about it." I went back to watching the show.
Online school would mean I would pretty much only have contact with my family, and their friends. And I've literally only met one of their friends that I didn't quite consider family yet. But also, I could hang out with my family more, and not worry about my ribs and arm as much.
"Can I do online school?"
