Chapter 5- A Phone Call

When they got inside, Nate opened his guitar up and began to play the Pokemon theme song. Hunter sang along with his own words that he'd made up about the crappy NPCs that littered the game. By the end, Nate was laughing softly.

"That was awesome," he said. "Did you write that?"

Hunter nodded.

"I run a youtube channel as Dookieshed, and I wrote that as a duet with a youtuber called Smooth McGroove. We call it Try To Catch A Few."

Nate smiled his ridiculously adorable smile.

"Well, I like it," Nate said.

Hunter nodded.

"Hey, Nate? I noticed something. When Morgan was trying to comfort you, it didn't seem to affect you. But when you were in the car with me and I was talking, it seemed to calm you down."

Nate smiled again.

"I know," he said. "I don't know why, but I feel safe with you. Maybe it's just because we're so much alike. It gives me a sense of familiarity. And it's comforting for me."

Hunter smiled.

"Well, I'm glad," he said. "Oh, hey. That chick left you her number by the way. You should ring her up and let her know you're okay."

He handed Nate the piece of paper. Nate quickly dialed the number.

"Hi, I'm looking for Morgan Want," he said when the phone picked up. "Oh, hey. Listen, I just wanted to thank you for earlier." He paused, listening to the girl speaking on the other end. "Oh, he told you? Yea. Well, hey. If you ever wanna hang out, just text me. I work at Hoover's Music Company, so we'll have to work it around my schedule, but I'd really like to get to know you better." He smiled as he listened to Morgan talk. "Awesome. I'll text you when I get off tomorrow. I'll let you get back to playing Kingdom Hearts, now. I think Hunter wants to go out for dinner, anyways."

"Ask if she wants to come," Hunter whispered.

"Hunter wants to know if you wanna come," Nate said. He nodded as he listened. "Alright. Text me the address, and we'll be on our way. And thanks again. Bye."

He hung up and sighed softly.

"You okay?" Hunter asked.

Nate nodded.

"Wow, what a girl," he said. "That's definitely the kind of girl I can see myself in a relationship with."

Hunter bit his lip. Why did it hurt so much to hear those words coming from Nate?
