Chapter 12

Naruto's P.O.V.:

After bringing Karin-chan to the hospital and taking Kin with me for interrogation with her being the only living sound ninja left in the exams, I went back to my team's dorm and went to sleep.

Timeskip: 3 days later: Preliminaries.

Zabuza-sensei came to our dorm to tell us to go to the main hall. When we got the the Hokage explained that since there were too many teams who passed the second exam so there had to be a preliminary round before the third exam. My team and I went to the main hall joining Gammy-chan and her siblings on the way there. As we arrived, We found that almost all the other teams were already there the last team to enter being team 7.

Author's P.O.V.:

The Hokage gave his speech about the chunin exams being an honorary war between the hidden villages, and a sickly looking proctor named Hayate Gekko came out of seemingly nowhere coughing like crazy as he explained that they were going to have a preliminary round as three people dropped out: Kabuto, Haku and Narumi as the person next to Naruto began to taunt him "What your girlfriends too puny to fight?" The boy named Sasuke taunted him. "Round 1: Uchiha Sasuke VS Yoroi Akado. Every other participants to the platform to the side." The fight was quick as Sasuke was easily overpowered by Yoroi but still won by using a stolen technique from Rock Lee as Naruto his friends along with Lee and Gai gave him a disgusted look at the fact that he would stoop so low as to steal from his comrades. The second round was quite odd as Aburame Shino won against a boy who apparently was named Cee and since the boy used mainly genjutsu, he lost as Shino's bugs were unaffected and warned him about said genjutsu so he dispelled it and sent a swarm of bugs at him. The bugs devoured his chakra till he passed out. Shino, not one to over do things pulled his bugs back and told the proctor to call the match as his opponent was unable to battle (Ash Ketchum wins... Sorry). The third match was quick as it was revealed Misumi Tsurugi, the boy who was apparently able to control his limbs to do whatever he wants for example let him stretch them as far as he wants. But the one he was fighting was revealed to have been a puppet the whole time as Kankuro came out of his wrappings and broke the boy's neck. Round 4 was honestly pathetic and disappointing as it ended with a double knockout. The fifth round between Temari and Tenten was one sided as Tenten went all out with her weapons and Temari just blew them away and was about to brutally end it but didn't when she caught Naruto's look that told her not to do it. The sixth match took quite a while but Shikamaru Nara came out on top as his strategy overwhelmed Darui's raw power and Kenjutsu. (I'm making Naruto's fight go last.) Round 7 was Hinata Hyuga VS Neji Hyuga which went by quickly as Hinata quickly Used the caged bird seal on Neji as he fell on his back screaming in pain as everyone looked disgusted at what she did. The 8th Round was not too bad as Gammy won the match easily against Rock Lee having had training from Haku as both used their elements in the same way. Next was Yugito Nii up against Akimichi Choji and Choji was defeated easily as he used his clan jutsu but apparently he was just making himself a bigger target as she used fire type jutsu to bring him down. The strange thing was, the fire... was blue. And finally came Naruto's match against Inuzuka Kiba.

Naruto's P.O.V.:

As I saw my name on the board I jumped down the railing using my wind affinity to make me glide/float slightly. Landing, I looked at the boy in front of me who had just jumped down the railing land roughly as I said "You should quit now while you have the chance and nor you or your little partner will get hurt." I said with a bored look. And he asked what I was gonna do about it as the proctor yelled 'Hajime'. And using pure speed, I disappeared from his view as I Reappeared by his side and kicked him harshly against the side of his head. He flew back and hit the wall as his puppy ran to his side. He slowly got up slouching with his hair shadowing his face as he flicked a pill to his pet. his pet barked as it ate it before growling and turning a red/orange kind of color. He then yelled 'man beast clone' and I saw two Kibas running at me. I dodged the first one which I knew was Kiba and grabbed the second which was his pet Akamaru which I heard him mutter when giving it the pill. I punched the one I grabbed canceling its transformation and making it cough out the pill turning it white and small again. I then grabbed a kunai and lifted it to the puppy's neck while simultaneously putting him under a genjutsu. He disregarded my warning so I knocked out the puppy and put it on the ground gently but Kiba, being in my genjutsu dropped to his knees having instead seen me kill the puppy and toss it to the ground as it laid there lifelessly. He punched the ground crying as I stood there. He forfeited saying he wouldn't be a ninja anymore if it meant losing his friends and companions so easily. I dispelled the genjutsu and said "Dude it was just a genjutsu I placed you under. He's not actually dead." I told him felling kind of bad for making him cry. He yelled at me quite a lot "Do you really think I care, I could honestly care less. And don't think that just because we were comrades before doesn't mean we're friends now." I told him and him and the other Konoha genin frowned before the medical staff came in, picked him up and brought him to the infirmary to nurse his bleeding head. The winners were then called to the front to pick numbers from a basket to randomize the fights for the final and third round. "1" Said Gammy-chan seemingly anxious. "4" Said Shino completely stoic.. "I have 7" Said Temari-chan "9"stated Yugito with a sadistic grin. "3" Said Kankuro tugging at his collar. "6" I said with a straight face. "2" Said Sasuke, smirking. "5" Said Hinata , smirking as well."What a drag. 8"Shikamaru drawled. "Well the match-ups are the following for the quarter finals.: Round 1 Gammy VS Sasuke Uchiha. Round 2 Kankuro VS Shino Aburame. Round 3 Hinata Hyuga VS Uzumaki Naruto. Round 4 Temari VS Shikamaru Nara and Yugito Nii gets a bye. Semi finals Round 5: winner of round 1 VS winner of round 2. Round 6: a 3-way round winner of round 3 VS winner of round 4 and Yugito Nii unless one doesn't show up. In that case it would be a normal 2-way round. The finals is the winner of round 5 VS the winner of round 6. Any questions?" He recited. Shikamaru raised his hand and spoke " Since the third exams are in the form of a tournament, does that mean only one of us will become chunin?" he asked. "No even if you are eliminated in the first round you may still become chunin. We promote you based on your skill set. So even the winner of the chunin exams may stay a genin." The Hokage replied. "Does that mean that it is also possible that none of us become chunin?" Shikamaru asked again. "Yes, as I said, it all depends on your skills. You all have one month of recuperation and/or training. Dismissed." The Hokage told us as we all left.

When I got outside I went with Gammy-chan, Temari-chan and Kankuro to the place where me and the rest of my team are staying. When I got there I saw Haku-chan, Narumi-chan, Zabuza-sensei and Baki-san standing there. I walked straight past them to my room while gesturing at Haku-chan and Narumi-chan to come along. When we got to my room I sat on my bed looking at them "Explain." I said simply with an annoyed look on my face. "What?" They asked with cute, innocent, confused looks on there faces. 'Wait, cute? Where did that come from? Whatever.' I thought. "Explain why you just quit and left me there." I replied. "Well actually we've been keeping a secret from you. I have the kekkai-genkais dust release." Said Narumi. "And from the looks of it, we made a good choice. Otherwise we would have had to fight each other and both of us would have forfeited either way so... Yeah." Said Haku calmly. "And plus we're basically the same in terms of power so if we had fought it would have be a double knockout." Said Narumi.
