"is anyone home?" i continue to knock on the door only to find no answer.

sighing, i place the books down on the floor so my arms didn't break off, only to see feet inside the door frame.

"what do you want?"

i freeze at the unfamiliar voice. shit, is this the wrong house?

"i'm looking for kim taehyung," i say, still looking at the ground, too afraid to face the person in front of me.

"what do you want with him this early in the morning? he never speaks to girls."

"i'm his tutor."

he scoffs. "my brother doesn't have a tutor."

brother? i slowly stand up, knowing who it had to be.

"you're kim namjoon," i say. "taehyung's older brother."

"yes, and you are.. holy shit," he immediately gets down on one knee. "i'm sorry, princess sa-."

"shh," i lightly kick his foot to shut him up. "i'm not supposed to be out here right now or at all, so if you could stay quiet that would be very much appreciated."

"u-uh okay," he nods before stepping aside. "please, step inside." he offers to take my books but i decline and bring them in myself. "you're not doing this to behead me and my brothers right? are there any guards hiding in the forest right now?"

"absolutely not, swear on my life," i solemnly say. "anyways, is taehyung here now? i came early today to cram as much work as we can in."

"yes, but he's actually still asleep, princess-."

"just call me chiko," i interrupt, lightly smiling.

"well, chiko, he's still asleep but you're welcome to wake him up. he had a uh.. tough time last night. it might be harder to get him going."

"oh. what happened, if you don't mind me asking?" i ask, placing my books in the small dining table.

"it's our mother's uh.. anniversary today," he quietly says, making sure taehyung didn't hear if he was conscious. "the thought of it kind of hit him last night, and he's been sulking ever since."

"oh, i see.." i drift off. silence envelops us. "shall i go.. wake him up now then?"

he nods, walking towards the small chest in the corner. "i should get ready now too. got a long day of hunting. the sun's about to come out."

i nod in approval. "be safe out there."

he gives a small smile. "thank you, chiko. oh, and could you wake up seokjin to? it's his first day out hunting since he was injured."

"injured?" my eyebrows raise. "i thought he was sick?"

"he was um.. shot with an arrow in the leg by a palace guard that thought he was a trespassing threat," he blankly says. "i know i shouldn't be saying this to royalty, but that's what happened. he's been waiting for his leg to heal the past few weeks. he treats it himself. taehyung and i have no medical experience like him."

"that's horrible," i say. "and incredibly ridiculous on the castle's part."

he just quietly nods. "i should really get going now. take care, chiko."

i smile as he walks into the other room with his belongings.

where's taehyung's room? i stare at the two doors next to each other. maybe one's a bathroom and they all share the same room?

i had a fifty fifty chance of getting the right room. i try the right door first. "hello? it's chiko. i'm coming in."

i push the door and it slowly creaks open. taehyung lies sleeping on a shelf like surface covered in a stuffed cloth. seokjin sleeps on the floor against the right wall.
