Sadie(kids book series)

Listening and comunication

*Just a quick note, I heard a story along these lines many years ago when I was Sadie's age so I was not intending to copy or anything*

Once in a town named Averyvill, there was a family named the trottipeaus. There were four kids Amelia, Zack, Josh and little Sadie a mom and a dad. One day the phone rang.

"Hello"? Dad said as he was answering the phone politely

"Oh hello big Gorge"! cried auntie Lucy with her British accent.

"Oh hello aunt Lucy"! "How is everything?" asked dad with a big smile on his face

"Oh very fine, actually I am coming to town this weekend!" "Would you mind if I stopped over for diner on Saturday night?" asked aunt Lucy.

"Of course, we would love to have you over on Saturday ". Dad replied nicely

"Great, I will see you soon!" Said aunt Lucy

Dad hung up the phone and informed everyone about aunt Lucy's arrival.

Saturday arrived quickly! Mama gave everyone tasks. Dad cut the grass. Amelia to set the table and clean up the rooms. Zack gets to pull weeds. Josh to help outside,with Sadie. "And I'm gonna make some stew "!

As they started their tasked mama remembered that she forgot to do the laundry. So she went outside to ask dad if he could put some pepper in the stew. "Sorry mama I'm trying to cut the gras, but I can help you when I'm done". "That's ok papa I will go ask the kids for their help"

So mama went back into the kitchen to ask Amelia if she could help. "Sorry mama I'm not done setting my table yet, I can help when I'm done though". Said Amelia

Meanwhile dad had finished cutting the grass so he went inside to help do what mama said to do. So dad took the pepper jar that mama left out he read the recipe and it said 1 pinch of pepper. Dad likes his stew to have a kickboxing it so he put two pinches inside the pot. Dad quickly returned outside to cut wood for the fire.

Mama went to Zack who was pulling weeds out from the front lawn." Zack could you please put some pepper in the stew for me please?" Asked mama. "I cannot right now I still have weeds to pull." Said Zack. "Oh ok." said mama a little disappointed.

During that period of time Amelia was done cleaning and setting the table so she went over to the pepper pot. And without reading the recipe she dropped 3 pinches of pepper.

So mama finally went to Josh and Sadie who were outside picking carrots and potatoes for the stew. "Zack and Sadie can you put some pepper into the stew please?" asked mama "maybe late mama we are almost done picking carrots and potatoes." "Ok, I guess I will have to do it myself" said mama in a low voice so only she could hear .

Zack finished up his task and quickly ran into the kitchen and sprinkled 1 pinch into the the pot and ran away.

Mama went into the laundry room to start hero load.

Zack and Sadie were done a couple of minutes after mama came to them. Sadie dropped in the carrots that they had just washed. And Zack wanted to drop the potatoes . Before they left Sadie said "what about the pepper, we should help mama" so they put 2 pinches each.

By the time mana arrived there was only 2 pinches of pepper left. "Well, everyone loves a hearty soup" said mama before tossing the remainder of the pepper into the soup.

The doorbell rang. "Oh hello aunt Lucy!" Said mama as she opened the door. "right on time" said dad.

"Are you ready to eat aunt Lucy?" asked Sadie

Soon they were all sitting around the table with the stew in their bowls. "Aunt Lucy, you can go eat first because your our guest!" Said Josh.

Everyone stared at aunt Lucy as she stuck a spoonful of stew in her mouth. She quickly spat it out and said "who put the pepper into the stew?" Everyone raised their hand. Mama was very confused. Then mama said "I'm sorry aunt Lucy, I was so busy that I had asked everyone accidentally to put some pepper in the pot!"

Everyone apologized to aunt Lucy. Dad decided to make pizza instead.

Everyone had fun and had a good laugh at how silly there diner was.
