Conner sets his hands on the desk in front of me and looks at me.
"What are you doing here." He asks like I'm the one whose out of place.
"Working." I reply.
He raises his eyebrows. And says.
"No shit."
"Well you asked." I say before organizing the already organized papers next to me.
"I meant to say why are you working here isn't your mom rich or something." He says while looking at my hands and watching them with amusement.
Something about him watching me makes me nervous.
The feeling is strange, and inordinately.
Maybe it's the fact that he came to my room at three in the morning. Drunk. And smashed the only thing I have of my father.
Could be it.
"My mother isn't rich." I say while walking over to the book he dropped and picking it up before putting it back on the shelf.
"Yeah she is." He says like he knows me.
"Look, you don't know me. Or anything about me for that matter so stop pretending like you do." I say harshly, maybe a little to harsh.
He just stars at me like I'm just an amusement to him. Maybe I am?
But I can't help but look at his black eye, and I really can't believe my brother punched him.
Actually i can, I always knew Andrew would protect me. I just never knew the extent.
"I'm going to lunch, you need to leave."
I say and I mean it I'm hungry and he is making me crabby.
He doesn't say a word but walks past me and out the door. His expression guarded.
Well that was weird.
Oh well. I'm not going to let seeing him today get to me.
I lock the shop on my way out to my car, and drive to the nearest Mcdonalds
I check the time on my phone.
I have fifteen minutes to waste so may as well sit down and enjoy my calorie infested burger. I decide while getting out of my car and walking into the fast food restaurant.
I order a chicken sandwich and fries and sit down to wait for my order to be called.
Someone sits down across the booth from me with a tray of food. My food.
And who is it? Non other that Conner Porter.
"What are you doing here?" It's my turn to quote him from earlier.
"I followed you, obviously." He replays shrugging his shoulder and unwrapping a burger.
Arrogant as ever.
"Some people would call this stalking." I say and reach for my chicken sandwich.
"Nah." He says with a full mouth before swallowing and saying, "I just followed you here. Calm down."
"Exactly." I reply. And say "You know where I work, live and, now eat."
"So?" He says like it's not a big deal.
"So." I repeat. "Stop following me."
"Nah. Your brother gave me a black eye." He says
"I know, but that gives me no reason to follow me, Andrew wants you to--
