Zoe's Checkup

Dear Diary,

My big sister's guy friend came back from Germany. He asked her if she would date him. She said yes. I don't understand why big kids always end up dating someone. Perhaps I should introduce myself. My name is Zoe, I'm 10 years old, and I was born with leukemia. I have a lot to learn about the world we live in but my sissy likes to shelter me from it. She says there's a lot of things that will scare me. She calls it reality and says life isn't like a fairy tale. But she seems really happy. So if life isn't a fairy tale why is my sissy so happy? This is why I need to learn about this world. I'm in remission but I'm not even sure when my leukemia will come back or if it even will. If it comes back then that means my life expectancy is way shorter than the average person's. So before I leave this wonderful world I want to experience what my sister calls reality. Hopefully it ends up being a fairy tale or close to it. Oh no!! My big sissy is walking into my room!!!! Goodbye diary!!!

Zoe: Hannah get out of my room!!! I want to have a peaceful environment to be in while I write in my diary!!! Hannah: Zoe I wish I could but we have to go to the doctor so they can do more tests on you. Zoe: My cancer didn't come back though. Right?? Hannah: Yes you're right but they still have to test you to make sure it doesn't come back. Zoe: Ok... This doesn't make me happy but I guess I'll have to shut up about it and keep my displeasure to myself. Hannah: Zoe, you don't have to use such big words right now.. Zoe: Sissy. Listen to me. I'm old enough to start using big kid vocabulary. Hannah: You're 10 years old. You have your whole life ahead of you so enjoy being young while you can. Zoe: You're forgetting that I almost died when I was 3 years old. I don't want to be young anymore because I don't feel young. Hannah: So you want to be treated like an adult? Zoe: No. I want to be treated like a pre teen not a toddler. Hannah: Haha ok. Whatever you say Zoe. Go and get in the car with Kris while I get our lazy sister ready. ALEXIS RENEE!!!! Let's go!!!! Alexis: Why? Hannah: Because Zoe has to go for a check up today!!!! Hurry up! We have to be there by noon!!! Alexis: Ok I'm coming! Hannah: You better be.

*5 minutes later*

Alexis walks downstairs and gets in the car. Kris is driving so Hannah can get some sleep. However he didn't get much sleep either. He was out partying and Hannah didn't know it. She thought he was watching tv in the basement. Kris and Hannah had a happy relationship. Or so everyone thought. Alexis and Zoe have watched them argue so many times. They fought because Kris always got drunk at parties. Everyone thinks he's a well behaved Christian boy but he's not.

*2 days ago*

Hannah's POV:

It was almost 3:00 in the morning and Kris still didn't come home. As usual, I was stupid enough to care about him. I didn't want him getting hurt or worse going home with some girl. I decided to call him. Someone answers the phone: "Hello?" Hannah: "Kris is this you? If so then you need to come home! Zoe has a fever again." Random girl: "Ummm no I'm not Kris. I'm Emily. I can get him for you though because it sounded important." Hannah: "You can if you want. Thank you." Emily: "No problem! *to Kris* Talk to Hannah. She says there's something wrong with Zoe." Kris: "She'll be fine. Tell Hannah to call back." Emily: "No. You need to talk to her. Or I'll leave." Kris: "Ugh fine. *to Hannah* What do you want?!" Hannah: "You need to come home. Zoe has a fever of 103 degrees." Kris: "Hannah, I'm not sober enough to drive to the hospital. Put her in a cold bath and give her the medicine again." Hannah: "Fine. I'll see you later." Kris: "Ok bye. I love you." Hannah: "No you don't. If you did you wouldn't be with a girl right now. Goodbye." So this was it. Kris was with another girl and I was alone again. I can't take this anymore.
