taehyung hummed a song - coincidentally one of jeongguk's songs. - as he walked across the street to meet jeongguk at the cafe.

of course, he couldn't normally walk along a sidewalks without bodyguards/mobs, but on this occasion he was wearing a beanie, sunglasses and a cute, yellow duck mask to cover his identity. jeongguk and himself had decided that they didn't want to live in the shadow of the press, and it they wanted to meet up without bodyguards they would darn well do so.

the bell tinkled softly as he entered the coffee shop. taehyung was secretly hoping that jeongguk asked him out because he had genuine feelings for the silvernette (is that even a word?) and that it wasn't only a publicity stunt. then again, if it was just a publicity stunt, why would they be making such an effort to keep their identities a secret?

jeongguk was sat in the booth at the furthest wall from the door of the café for maximum privacy, and his head immediately whipped up on the arrival of the younger. his eyes immediately crinkled up into a smile, and taehyung waved excitedly before trotting over and sliding into the seat opposite jeongguk.

"hi kookie!" he greeted happily, the elder having to hold back from cooing at his cuteness. "hiya tae." he grinned back.

both of them pulled off their masks, sunglasses and beanies, jeongguk having cleared with the barista that there would be no identity-revaluations to the public.

the two ordered their drinks before resuming conversation. jeongguk ordered a caramel frostino with whipped cream and sprinkles, whilst taehyung ordered a plain espresso. jeongguk had never pegged the pretty boy for a bland-caffiene kinda guy, but he made a mental note not to stereotype taehyung again.

taehyung on the other hand would've loved a big, pink, strawberry milkshake - but one look at the calorie counter scolded him otherwise. he tried to not be too hard on himself, but he wasn't in the mood to spend hours at the gym. he just wanted to enjoy his time with his 'boyfriend' and not have to stress about keeping in shape — so espresso it is.

"taehyung? you there?" jeongguk mused, clicking his fingers in front of taehyungs face to bring the younger out of his thought process. he'd been in his own world and had managed to miss the arrival of their  drinks. "hehe sorry gguk, what did you ask?"

"i was just wondering how you knew yoongi... you guys seem pretty close." if you looked into it, jeongguk might have sounded a tad jealous. oops.

"we grew up together! we were both born in daegu and we went to the same schools. i-i was bullied for being small and girly and hyung would always stand up for me." taehyung replied. jeongukk's expression softened immediately.

he took the younger's hands in his own and squeezed them softly.

"i'm sorry you had to go through that taehyung. i hope it didn't get to you too much, you're so strong. look where you are and look where they are now. you're gorgeous taehyung. i don't care if you're small, big, skinny, chubby, whatever. you're amazing tae. don't let anyone tell you otherwise."

a pastel pink dusted at taehyung's cheeks. he'd been praised for his body before, but nothing as heartfelt, as meaningful as this. jeongguk didn't care how he looked, he cared about the real taehyung - the one on the inside.

"i hope you don't think i'm saying this just because we're dating. i-i'd actually like to get to know you better— if you're okay with that of course!!" jeongguk stammered hurriedly.

taehyung let out a giggle and booped jeongguk's nose.

"that sounds like a dream ggukie!" he chirped happily.

jeongguk felt elated. did this mean that the younger liked him too? he sure hoped you.

fuck you minseo, you don't deserve my respect - or taehyung's! he's gonna be my real boyfriend, and you won't be able to manipulate me in your stupid games anymore.

jeongguk paid the waitress (all whilst ignoring taehyung's whines that he could pay for himself) and dragged the younger outside by the wrist.

taehyung was startled be the elder's sudden actions, but he'd be lying if he said he minded. taehyung was more of a go-with-the-flow kinda guy than a take-control kinda guy — if you know what i'm talking about.

before taehyung could open his mouth and utter a single word, jeongguk beat him to it.

"i really like you tae and i know we've barely known each other but i feel really connected to you and i'm a bit of a wreck with feelings so i'm just gonna do this-"

the elder didn't even give taehyung a chance to process what was going on before leaning in and planting a small, sweet kiss on the younger's lips.

he smiled at taehyung before running away like the flash, too embarrassed with himself to even stick around. he hoped the younger wouldn't be mad at him for leaving.

the gucci boy was anything but mad — he was rooted to the spot with a tingling feeling on his lips and a red flush painted across his cheeks. his mind was everywhere at once, but he for sure knew that he wanted more.
