Have you ever had a stalker? The ones who haven't may feel they know how creepy it is, but without experiencing somebody you barely know show up, opposite your house, uninvited, while clearly waiting for someone, you do not know the dread. You see, this is exactly the predicament I found myself in the last time I saw Ash.
Ash was an annoying boy. He knew it. He took pride in it. I knew him in year six (fith grade), and I had to do multiple projects with him. I remember one specific one that ended particularly horribly. We had to do an animation of "the highwayman" in a cross between hand drawn and stop- motion animation. I never was any good at animating to be honest, had to do an animation in year five, too. Most of the frames were "dead frames" meaning they were completely black, and yes, I would make the "like my soul" joke if it weren't already overused.
Some time after he started coming to the same school as me, he started to use the back exit. This was the same one I used. Now, this wouldn't be suspicious, if he didn't then go down the same road as me before going another way, and A few weeks later, he started to show up later in the journey, he kept showing up later and later (keeping old positions too, in case it wasn't obvious), that he might as well have been walking with me! All the while, when I told my mum (who walked with me at the time), it was like trying to tell her that he was Count Olaf/ team rocket. She refused to believe me! She still didn't believe me when he was on the opposite side of the road to our house! I don't know if she was trying to make me feel safer, or thinking I was being paranoid, or she thought I was making it up, but you do not end up in this situation through coincidence, Ash knew where my house was.
And he still does.
