The Day

Today was the day. The day to leave from here and go to the tougher academy. I and Aisha got up at 6, got ready and packed our bags we said Bye to poor Hafsah who had to be all alone now. Looks like she just had to make new friends. I was really sad to leave knowing that it would be a long time that I would see and train in this place with these people. Once we were ready we went to the hall. The officers were already there and some of the students were there. We waited for a while until everyone was there in 5 neat rows. All of us Standing straight with our Green, smart and washed uniforms and with our Suitcases by our side. Even the Officers were in lined up with us. Sir Ali went up and down the rows inspecting everyone. I clasped my hands in front of me and looked straight ahead of me like that was my goal. 

Sir Ali came to the front and started talking.

"Here we are today. With our secret shining stars. The people who can risk Friends, Families and most of all themselves. People might see all those Celebrities and politicians as heroes but they do not know that the heroes are you, the people who let them live freely. You should all be proud. Every one of you. So, my heroes, This is the day, Your first step to that mission. You will all leave in a jeep. There are 12 of you so you will all leave in Fours. First, the first four will leave in the first jeep and the next four and so on. And there you will stop at the huge academy in is in the mountains. With rivers and amazing training equipment. It will be tougher for the first minute to get ready. And, Anaya your job is to keep everything calm and sort everything out properly. Well done all of you. I'm very proud and I'm sure your parents will be extremely proud of every one of you. We have already informed them all but now each one of you has 3 minutes to talk to their parents. You will go on the phone one at the time including the Officers. Okay, We'll start with you Mohammed." He said pointing at the first boy in the rows.

 I was a little relieved that the leader job thing wasn't very difficult it seemed okay I waited for a while for my turn. I was very happy that we got this opportunity of talking to my parents. When it was my turn Mama picked it up. She told me how much she misses me and that she wants me to come back. And that I should be very careful in the mission. She told me that she hasn't been happy since the minute I left. When she gave dad the phone he told me that he was very proud of me and that he wants me to try my best on his mission and that everything at home was okay. I told them How I loved the Army and how I missed them too. And before I knew it my turn was over and I was back in the rows. I noticed that when it was Officer Adnan's turn he skipped it and let the person after him go. Strange? 

After about 35 minutes of waiting everyone had finished and we went outside. Were 4 jeeps were waiting for us.  Sir Ali looked at me.

"You decide everything from now." He said as if there was nothing wrong with that.

"What do you mean sir?" I said in surprise.

"I mean that you choose which Jeep everyone's going to sit on. That's it for now. Is that okay?" He said 

"Yes sir," I said. I didn't like leading it just made me feel uncomfortable.

"Good. Of you go now everyone is waiting" He said raising his eyebrows.  I swallowed the lump in my throat and looked at everyone.

"So, In the first jeep will be Omar, Mira, Asfan and Ma'am Aliza. The nest jeep will be Hamza, Isa, Tybah and Ma'am Humaira. The Jeep after that will be  Officer Yousuf, Mohamed, Laiba, Sumaya and finally, the last Jeep will be Me, Officer Adnan, Aisha and Faiza." It was quite easy. I didn't even realise that I put Officer Adnan in my Jeep. I liked the way I put everyone in their jeeps especially Mine. Faiza was one of my far friends so I didn't really mind her. Nobody had moved from there places.

"Can you all get in your Jeeps now please," I said as everyone started moving in there Jeeps. There was already a driver in them. There was 1 seat at the front and four at the back. Officer Adnan went at the front with me, Aisha and Faiza at the back. I felt a little sorry for Officer Adnan as he was the only Boy. Sorry, Officer Adnan. After all our Suitcases were in our Jeeps we were off and away. We were all waving at Sir Ali who stood behind us as proud as ever.

It was one of those Jeeps were it had no roof so you could stand up and take in the fresh air. Aisha was the first one to break the silence. 

"Officer Adnan you know Anaya...she..likes..," Aisha said with a smirk. I put my hand over her mouth and nudged her.

"I ....was .....saying.."  She said from underneath my hand.

" what were you saying, Aisha." Officer Adnan said turning around to see me holding Aisha's mouth. I quickly let go and smiled at him.

"Ookkaay?" He said.

"You know her...she" I hit her so hard on her hand that it made a noise. She started laughing. I hated it when Ausha was annoying like that.

"Oh come on say what you're going to say, Aisha,"He said.

"If this Anaya Khan lets me then." I felt like killing her right now.

I let go of her and gave her the death stare.

"She likes Missions," Aisha said stupidly. But at least She didn't say anything else.

"Great." Officer Adnan said lamely.

The other Jeeps that were in front of us were loud and fun but ours was just awkward with just Aisha blabbing on about god knows what.

"Sir you know one day When Anaya was coming back from the training session she was so tired that she banged into a pillar and she thought it was a person and she started saying stuff to it. Can you imagine? when she came into the dorm she had a big bump on her head and she couldn't even feel it. She is very clumsy like that. She never looks where she goes or always bangs into something ." What the hell was Aisha saying that never even happened? She was looking at me with a big smile. I knew she wanted the topic to turn to me but she was just acting like one of those embarrassing mums. 

"Hahaha, that is so funny. Anaya was it with you and hitting stuff. You did that to me the other day and then started saying stuff. Your one funny person." He said making me blush. Wait why was I blushing?

"I must say you're a nature Army Student though without the Bumping into stuff I think your amazing and so ....skilled. You remind me of me. I was always like that when I first started well not the bumping bit stuff but I always learned so fast and loved to compete but I was always helpful and worked as a team. Keep it up Anaya." I felt like hugging him. It was nice hearing good stuff about me speically from Officer Adnan.

Aisha looked at me with a look that said he likes you. I rolled my eyes and ignored her. Officer Adnan started a conversation with me. I think Imight have liked him a tiny winy bit.
