I always thought of way's in which i could let my parents now that i wanted to join the army . Abu sent me to this special collage that specialised in law because Abu wanted me to be a lawyer. i knew if i told him he would be heart broken but he'll still let me but on the other hand mama would be furious at me and not let me. But this was my life and i chose whatever i wanted to and nothing and nobody could stop me.
"Anaya come help me cook rice for tonight's dinner. your growing up you need to learn." mama always had to torture me.
"huffff..... ok i'm coming" i said fed up of mama's nagging.
I went to the kitchen and mama stood their cooking brown rice. She told me to stand next to her and observe what she was doing cause next time I'm going to make the rice. I stood their daydreaming and didn't care about stupid rice.
"you need to learn what will happen to you if you marry. your husband's not going to cook for you" mama said with a frown.
yes he is going to cook for me cause mate I was not gonna be his servant. And anyways I didn't want to marry anyone. I was stood their for what felt like 2 hours whilst mama kept blabbing on about recipes and God knows what.
"ANAYA wake up stop day dreaming for once. OHH god what shall I do with this girl." Mama said for the 50th time. Abu was already here and mama told me to give him the rice.
I went to the large and fashionable living room where Abu said rubbing his face tired of working in the fields all day.
"ohh wow my only son came to serve me rice. we don't see that everyday" he said laughing at his own joke. hahah so funny.
mama came and sat down and gave me my plate of rice. And we sat there eating . Was this the time to tell them . Shall I ask or not. I'll give it a try.
"emmm .... emm papa you know I always wanted to tell you something but.." mama cut me off.
"you don't talk Anaya when you eat dinner. okay learn some manners." mama said giving me a stare. Ughhh mama had to spoil everything.
"tell me later Anaya beta when your mama's not here" Abu said smiling .
Well I won't have the guts later and you'll be doing your stupid paper work and mama won't tll me disturb you. I felt like I was never ever going to be able to join the army. But I had to try and I'll do whatever it takes to achieve my dream.
