[Loki POV]
I arrived early to the ball like I had planned and still there were tons of people there. When I walked in no one even glanced at me.
I stalked over to the least crowded area of the room... of course it had to be farthest away from the food. I found a bench and sat down bored out of my mind and I had only been here for about 2 minutes. I looked around the room and noticed that the one's all had blue ribbons tied around one of their wrists. So they knew who was a 2. Now I'm happy I'm not a one because that blue would clash with my black outfit.
A few moments later Bucky Barnes stalked into the ballroom and I observed at least 6 heads turn and begin to look Bucky up and down.
But he didn't pay attention to any of them he already had his one, he wouldn't even look at anyone else. But the other one's didn't pay attention to that. They just saw a tall two with muscles who they could do anything with... their prey.
"Have you talked to anyone yet?"
"No I haven't" I honestly wondered why he even asked, he knew the answer.
"You promised."
"I don't think I did. I believe I flipped you off in response."
"Yeah I thought that was your way of making promises" I nudged him. I will truly miss James he his quite the friend.
I noticed and tall buff man begin stalking towards Bucky and I was about to warn him, but the man turned him around and kissed him roughly on the lips. Bucky was in shock, pushed the man off of himself, and punched him square in the jaw he then immediately put his back to the other man.
"What the fuck, Bucky?" The man looked at Bucky while rubbing his jaw.
Bucky was still facing me when his eyes widened in shock. I was so confused. "Steve?!" Oh now I get it.
The brunette man turned around in a second and immediately tackled Steve in a hug.
"Oh my god, Stevie I am so sorry!"
"It's okay Buck I understand. I guess I shouldn't have surprised you like that."
"Maybe not."
"But in my defense it wasn't my idea. It was Thor's."
I was suddenly fully invested in this conversation "my brothers here?"
"You're Thor's brother?" The blonde man asked.
"Your Thor's brother?"
"Yes. Problem with that?"
"No I just assumed you'd be a one and blonde."
"Technically I'm adopted" I muttered though the man didn't seem to notice.
I started scanning the crowd for my brother and I saw him talking to two brunettes one with light brown hair and now ribbon on their wrist and one with dark brown hair in a grey suit he was a one and I wished that he would walk over here.
"Loki just go over there."
"No, I would much rather not see my brother at this moment."
"Whatever. I'm gonna go with Steve. Please Loki just talk to someone."
"Sure."
[Tony POV]
The ball was stressful. Mostly because I had tons of people approach me, but only one had caught my eye so far. His name was Clint Barton, loved archery, very skilled at it too, but had background in other weapons as well. He seemed intelligent enough, but still not who I was looking for.
I also ran into Bruce I honestly forgot he was a two this year due to the separation, but Thor and some girl seemed to like him a lot, plus it would be kind of weird to be "married" to my best friend. I kept scanning the room to look for a two who would catch me eye as I did so an announcement came over the loud speakers.
"Attention all one's the selection announcements will begin in 10 minutes please turn in your ballots before then." My heart sank. Was I really going to have to spend the rest of my life with that archer? I figured a little bit of beer would help my decision so I made my way over to the back of the room to take a sip from my flask. I knew it was going to be a stressful night, don't judge me. As I took a sip from my flask someone bumped into me.
"Oh gods, I apologize." The voice had some kind of accent it was beautiful I glanced at the sleeve of the owner and noticed they didn't have a ribbon around their wrist I just prayed that their face was as beautiful as their voice.
They were stunning. Long black hair, an all black suit, slim, yet muscular.
"It's fine..."
"Loki" it suited him perfectly, though that name seemed oddly familiar I ignored it.
"Loki. Your a two?"
"Y-yes" Oh sweet Jesus that was cute.
"Can you tell me something? Anything about yourself?"
His words started out timidly when he mentioned drawing, but when he mentioned his favorite pastime, reading, his eyes lit up and it was adorable.
"My favorite author would have to be Shakespeare. He was such an artist his unique way with words, giving the underdogs a chance, true love, not constricted by some stupid test, it's all foreign and beautiful." The moment he stopped talking his face fell back into a neutral position.
"Attention all one's please turn in your ballads now if you haven't already. The selection announcements will begin momentarily."
"Well it was nice meeting you, Loki" I began to walk off, but against my better judgement I turned around and saw a tear slip down his cheek, but he quickly wiped it away.
I stalked over to the tablets where we entered our name and the two's we would like. We were allowed to select up to three that we would like, so if the others were taken we would still have a choice.
I placed two names into the tablet and went and found Thor.
And that's when I realized that Loki was Thor's little brother.
A/N: Sorry if the ending to this kinda sucks, but oh well
