She stood atop the Empire State Building, staring down at the street below. The cars looked like beetles, and the humans ants. She took a deep breath and spoke to herself. "This world is no place for me. Goodbye." She took a step forward, falling from the great height, plummeting toward the ground, the people below gasping and rushing around, worried and scared. She landed finally, creating a large outline of cracked cement around her. Concerned bystanders approached, checking if she was still alive. They were all shocked to see her sit up and groan in frustration. "Why can't I die?!" She screamed to the sky. No one knew, but she was speaking to her father, Lord of The Skies and King of the Gods, Zeus. People around her swarmed her. "Do you need me to call an ambulance?" asked a lady in the crowd. Alissa stood, brushing the concrete dust off of her clothes and face. "No, I'm fine. Thank you though." she replied. The lady stepped back, even more shocked than before as Alissa walked away, heading towards the cafe where her best friend, and the God of Nature, William, worked. She entered and was immediately greeted by him. "Hey Alissa, still trying to die, huh?" he asked her as he prepped her favorite caffeinated beverage. "Shut up, Moose." she replied, a slight smile forming on her lips as he handed the cup to her. "I know life is tough with your powers and everything, but I guarantee you'll find something to keep you here. Something better than me and Amber, your two best friends." He smiled, running a hand through his dark brown hair to get it out of his warm green eyes. Alissa chuckled as she sipped her drink. "I think you two are the best I got. Although Amber can be kind of annoying, considering she's the Goddess of Rainbows." William chuckled as he began to wipe down the counter he stood behind. "Yeah, but you gotta love her, you know? Sometimes her annoying dorkiness brightens up your day, sometimes even more than her rainbows do." A few more people came in, from the crowd that surrounded Alissa. They immediately rushed her, forgetting about any coffee cravings they originally came in here for. She stood up, becoming struck with anxiety and approached the door, as William calmed the customers down, and made them their orders. "See you at camp tomorrow?" he asked her before she slipped out the door. "See you at camp." Alissa replied with a smile. And with that she stepped into the cold outside, and disappeared into the night.
