Chapter VII

“Stop looking at me like that, will you, Chace Hummingbird?” I said to him. I walked past Chace, pero ba’t ba n’ya ako sinusundan. Nakaka-asar naman ‘tong si Chace.

          “Stop following me!” sabi ko sa kanya.

          “Why? Can’t I follow you?” he asked innocently.

          I scoffed at the air. “Geez, you know you’re so annoying. You’re like a lost kid that doesn’t know where to go.” I said.

          “Okay. I got you.” He said, smiling like an idiot. “But please, I wanted to talk to you first.”

          “We’re already talking, aren’t we?” I asked, raising an eyebrow.

          He smiled at me. OMG! He’s smile is just so adorable. I can’t breathe. Ack! Why am I saying this sort of things? Mali, maling mali itong nangyayare.

          “We are, but then, what I’m going to tell you is kind of private.” He said with a cute smile.

          “Private?” I asked. “I don’t want to…” Tapos biglang iwas ko sa kanya. Pupunta na sana ako sa library kaso lang sinusundan parin nya ako. Kaya pumunta nalang ako sa kapatid ko, kay Tyreese.

          Pagdating ko sa building ng mga freshmen, andoon si Tyreese kaso may ginagawa. “Hi, Tyreese,” pa-start ko ng conversation with my sister.

          “Hello Nee-san,” Tyreese said, smiling up at me.

          “Um… do you want to hang out together? Have lunch with me?” I said, para hindi ako sundan ni Chace. Naasar na ako sa kanya no.

          “I’m sorry Troian-nee. I have things to do today, but maybe Chace!” sabi ni Tyreese. “He’s behind you. And I guess you need to talk together.”

          “Ha?” I looked behind my back. There is Chace Hummingbird, standing like he is the coolest guy on earth. Take note, he was smiling at me. Oh my god. I think my jaw drop open.

          “So, Chace take care of my Troian-nee, okay? Goodbye.” Tyreese escaped like nothing happened. No, don’t leave me alone to this d-bag! Tyreese, come back!

          “So, I hope we can talk now?” he said.

          I turned around to him. “What do you want…from me?” I asked. There’s no point pag-iniwasan ko pa sya diba? Tsaka malay naten, it’s about the picture of the both of us at the bookstore.

          We were sitting near the fire tree here at school. I was busy trying to busy myself because nakatingin sakin si Chace. Our eyes should never meet. Paulit-ulit ko lang itong sinabai sa sarili ko, parang mantra ko na nga eto eh.

          “Troian, I wanted to tell you about the picture on the Internet. The one that we were in the library.” Aniya ni Chace.

          Aha! Tama nga ako! Tungkol nga eto dun. Ba’t ko ba iniiwasan ni Chace kung yun lang naman pala ang gust nyang pag-usapan! “Yeah, what is it?”

          “I will clear it. I will tell the reporters that the picture was nothing and there’s nothing between us, right?”

          “Well, it’s good you’re going to do that. It’s better this way, Chace.” I said. Pero ba’t ang weird ng nararamdaman ko. Like it should never be like this.

          “I know.” He said.

          “Oh, is that all? I need to eat my lunch. Bye.” I stood up from the bench we were seating on. Nag bow lang ako ng kaunti sa kanya. Aysus, yun lang naman pala eh. Pero, bakit tumulo ang luha ko. Ano ba yan Troian! Wag ka nga umiyak.

          Kinagabihan sa bahay namin. Nanunuod kami ng TV. May pinuntahan sina lolo at lola na isang gathering, pang mayaman, kaya kami lang ng mga kapatid ko at mga yaya ang nandito.

          Ang kulit ni Kuya Andrew. Lipat ng lipat ang mga channels, kaasar ah. “Kuya, stop it na nga!” aniya ko sa kanya.

          “Okay, fine. Let’s stop it at channel 6.” He said. News palang pala ang showing ngayon kasi 07:25 ng gabi, mamaya pa ang drama. Chika with Princess na, sino kaya ang ichi-chika ni Princess ngayon?

          “It’s been a week since the picture of Chace Hummingbird got viral on the Internet, and just this few days he was silent.” Sabi ni Princess. OMG! Eton na nga yun, pati si Kuya Andrew at Tyreese nakanig. “But now Chace Hummingbird talks about it and the rumors about the picture. Let’s hear from Chace himself what’s about girl.”

          “The girl in the picture was my classmate. There’s nothing about us and it’s been awkward with the two of us now at school. But…” Chace was slightly embarrassed. Ano ba yan, Chace wag ka naman ganyan sa interview mo ha. Linisin mo nalang ang name ko pwede?

          “But… I fall for her already. And I wanted to court her as much as possible now.” Chace said, with a smile.

         What? What did you say Chace Hummingbird? What the hell is going on?
