Chapter 28

Scene: At the Cube house, continued.

I walked out of the bright room and into the living room. The only person that was sitting on the lounge was Straub on his phone.
"Hey Straub! Where are Gabby and Graser?" I ask continuing walking towards the hallway.
"I think Graser wanted to talk to her? They walked downstairs to the lobby." He said still keeping his attention onto his phone. I didn't realise how often he was on his phone until today, he was like a real life robot/zombie when he was on it.
"Oh ok." I say with a low boring tone.

I found my way to Parker's room which was a nice one. He had his suitcase on his bed and his laptop on top of it. I grabbed it, wiping my hands from the thin layer of dust. It looked quite old, why would he need to bring 2 computers?
I walked all the way back with laptop in hand and into the quiet and perfect for recording room.
"Ok Parker, what do I do now?" I place it beside him on the desk. He didn't quite look but he knew what I was talking about.
"Turn it on and log into your own account on Minecraft." He said pursing his fingers on his lips in concentration. I did what he instructed and logged into my Minecraft account. I was a bit embarrassed because my skin was a girl version of Straub's skin.
"Ok, now go into Mineplex and meet me in lobby 21." He said like he already knew I was going to ask.
"Yep." I say making my face into a pufferfish. Right now I was sitting on the pullout lounge in the room.
"Now, you will have to come over here and share my mic." He said patting the chair he was sitting on.
"You want me to share your chair?" I said feeling surprised and confused at the same time.
"Unless you have Skype?" He suggested.
"No, I don't." I sounded disappointed.
"Okay, then... Come sit." He said narrowing his eyes to the door. I quickly turned around to see what he was looking at.

"Zack?" I say gasping.
"Hey... I wanted to talk to you, but if you are busy..." He shrugged his shoulders not looking himself. I turned to Parker to see what his reaction was.
"Well, I was about to record something with Parker, so maybe after?" I said letting myself down, I was not in a very easy situation here.
"Actually, you can talk, go ahead." Parker said taking away the laptop from my hands and pushing me towards Graser and the door. Graser nodded towards Parker and left, I followed.
"Where are we going?" I said louder than I had pictured it in my head. Straub alerted his head up and smirked to Graser.
"Yeah, where ARE you going?" He said chuckling. How was he able to make everything sound funny?
"Oh nowhere..." Graser pouted to Straub and continued walking down the narrow hallways. Graser stopped when he proceeded to his door and gestured to go inside.
I walked in and sat down on the nearest bed, he turned around and shut the door behind him.
"Hey! No shutting the doors!" I yelled at him in a hinting joking manner.
"Who made up that rule anyway!" He scoffed in a sarcastic voice and came and sat down on the same bed.
"So, I need to ask something..." He looked down and brought his legs onto the bed to sit cross legged.
"I am asking everyone!" He said in a very rushed tone, I think he was telling a lie.
"Get your snorkelling gear, because I am about to dive really deep." He chuckled but with a shiver in his voice. I smiled and nodded him to continue what he had to say. He took a momentous breath in and closed his eyelids.
"What is love like, to you?" He exhaled looking at me with a gaze I couldn't break.

I didn't know what to say? One person in my whole life has asked me that, and I have told them the truth.

I could see his facial emotions saddening every second it took for me to think of an answer.
"I'm going to tell you the truth, it won't be any use to you though." I say taking a huge leap of risks.
"Why? I'm still sure it will mean something?" He said bringing more mysterious and blurry signs of feelings that I couldn't read.
"I'm not so sure." I say shrugging my shoulders feeling bad for my pathetic (but truthful) answer I was about to give him.
"I'm sure." He said nodding his head. He looked like he was in an important part of a movie, gripping on the edge of your seat. It took a few seconds for me to brace myself...
"I don't believe in love..." I said letting a huge sigh out.

He looked shocked, amazed but most surprisingly, saddened. He didn't speak a work. I couldn't read his face, he was blinking constantly and had a large breath kept inside of him.
"Why not?" He said looking like a child who received no gifts on Christmas.
"I just don't. I believe we are strongly attracted to people, but falling in love seems unreal. We can love, but not fall in love." I say wisely. Graser stares at me like I've gone mental.

"How come whenever I think I say something really deep and inspirational, you always find a way to beat me?" He started chuckling. I was taken aback by his response. I was speechless.
"T-thankyou." I choke out looking really embarrassed.
"For what?" Graser said softly.
"For understanding..." I say looking down at my fluffy socks.
"Understanding what?"
"Me..." I pounce pulling him into a hug. He tenses up but slowly relaxes and hugs tighter. I lean my head on neck and exhale with my voice breaking.
"It's okay..." He relaxes his head and it falls onto the side of my head.
"Did I help answer your question?" I say whispering.
"Nope..."
"I told you!" I giggle punching him on the arm.
"You made me realise what I need, instead of want." He said turning shy.
"Love?" I say confused.
"No." He chuckled at himself for his small answer.
"What then?" I say laughing back.
"You..." He announced shortly after looking up to me.
