I fell asleep in the car, and next I knew I was being shaken awake by someone.
"Wazzgoinon?" I groaned.
"They've stopped and gone in somewhere, I think we're here." it was Tefia's voice, holding none of the comtempt it had in our earlier conversation but instead sounding extremely excited.
I jumped up at this news and looked out of the car window.
It had gotten dark, and the neighbourhood around us looked rough.
"Where are they?" I said, rubbing my eyes vigorously.
"They pulled into that gate and we haven't seen them since. Ash stopped the car out here so that we didn't seem too obvious, like we were following them." Kathryn said this from behind me, and I saw that she looked rumpled, like she had also just woken up. "I fell asleep, along with Edlyn and you, Ash was just following the directions from my phone... something that would have been a good idea in the beginning." she sighed.
"So only Tefia and Ash were the only ones..." I trailed off, looking sharply at Tefia who shrugged cheekily.
"Something up?" Kathryn said, the look on her face telling us that she didn't understand what we were thinking.
"Nothing." I waved it off, but vowed to talk to Tefia about it later.
"Come on, guys." Ash hissed.
I stretched my arms wide in the air in a stretch and sleepily leaned over to Ash. "Where are they now?"
"I could see them through this gap in the fence here, they went into the house. I'm not really sure whether to go in or not, I don't want any of us to get hurt."
"We're going to go in, I want to kick some P.E.F butt!"
"No, we have to be quiet about it if we're going to get Adam... and anyone else out." she added and we all stepped out of the car.
Before we started walking in like a bunch of idiots, I sighed. "Maybe we should wait a little while, and if we hear any ruckass or if they don't come out in a long while, we'll intervene."
"But I want to-"
"Tefia, we shouldn't even be here. We were going to find you, and help you escape. Now it's turned into a rescue mission for Adam, and let's face it: if Tasha and her friend weren't able to sort this out on their own, then why would they have sent them?"
They all stared at me in silence for a moment, then Ash spoke.
"He's right." she said, "We came here because we thought that we knew more than them, but if you think about that, how could we have? They are better trained and older, they must have known. I think we just came here on a rush of adrenaline and didn't really think it through before we left."
"What, so that's all I am now, an adrenaline rush?" Tefia said indignantly.
"No, we just thought that we could save you, but-"
"You did... sort of." Tefia grinned.
Ash sighed, "Yeah, I guess."
"Are we going home then?" Kathryn said hopefully, looking around at the gloomy street where shadows seemed to be following us.
"I wouldn't go that far-" Ash was inturupted by commotion coming from the building that Natasha and the man had gone into.
"I don't know what you're talking about!" someone yelled, "This is just an apartment complex, the flats are checked every week and there's nothing unusual going on."
