-----------------------------
The truth hurt. The pain pricked at his chest as he trudged on the snowy road, heading down the mountain, into an empty field where he could train while the rest of the gang relaxes.

Ash was not okay. He didn't feel fine at all. The only thing that continuously ate at him was the fact that he lost. Normally he wouldn't take a loss so seriously, but this? He worked so hard for it and yet he lost, even with the help of Ash-Greninja.

What else could he do. He felt like a failure. Over one loss? How pathetic. A voice in his head said, making the words echo throughout, plaguing him for the rest of the day.

He kept his facade up though. He didn't have to burden his friends any longer. "This is so gooood, Serena!" He exclaimed in false excitement, pulling off a wide grin that stretched from ear to ear, causing his cheeks to ache due to the strain.

"Thanks Ash!" Serena blushed. He needed to keep this facade up. If not, everyone would get upset too, causing him to feel even more of a burden. It didn't matter if it hurt him in the process. The only two things he wants is to be stronger and make his friends happy, no matter the cost.

No one noticed the way Ash frowned at himself after training, whispering words like, "I'm not strong enough!" or "How have I not improved at all?" Maybe even, "I'm such a loser, burden, weakling." No one noticed the way Ash lagged behind when they were walking around, frowning to himself again. No one noticed how Ash always wanted alone time. Sure this happened a few times before, it didn't deny the fact that no one noticed the negative changes in Ash Ketchum and the consequence will be dire.
