I won't waste your time much but I would like to thank everyone for 500+ reads. I am amazed and I'm really grateful people are enjoying this.

Still one year ago.

Crushing pain had seized Colden's body the moment she had driven away. It clawed at his chest, his skin, his throat...he couldn't breathe as his body was forced to shift back. The sound of breaking bones interrupted the hollow night. It was as if the time had stilled to witness the pain of an Alpha.

He had never thought he'd lose his mate, not after he had just found her.

But she didn't know. And that had been his mistake.

He hunched over as a cold sweat broke out.  Colden wanted to chase after her but he knew that he would not reach her. It took every ounce of his strength to stay where he was. He deserved this after all.

Alice. The name was like hot iron to his skin; it would forever be imprinted in his mind. He knew that he would live for her from this moment on.

Lightning struck the sky, a shower of rain descended down around him like a waterfall. His black hair stuck to his forehead, his skin began to cool down but his body still boiled and thrummed with the taste of her on his tongue.

Colden knew what she tasted like. He knew what a delicacy she was and her scent clung to his skin like a punishment. And yet it was his fault that she left.

He should have known better.

"Damn it," he roared in anguish as he slammed his fist onto the ground. "Damn it," his voice cracked as his eyes burned.

"Alpha."

He ignored the voice.

"Alpha," a hand touched his shoulder. Colden recoiled at the touch. He didn't care whether his beta saw him cry. He didn't care that his pack saw him weakened.

He deserved it. It was his fucking fault.

"We will get her back, Alpha." Will's voice was sincere. A hint of sadness coated his tongue and he knew that the pack wept for the loss of a Luna. But worst of all, they knew that their Alpha would soon begin to wither away if they didn't find her.

He was as good as dead.

"There's no point. She doesn't want me," his lips trembled as a stray tear run down his cheek, "she left me."

"She will come back." Will extended his hand towards him. Colden contemplated whether he should take it but he knew that he had to get his grip together, if not for his beta then for the rest of the pack.

"Alice won't be able to resist coming to you, Alpha," Lily's voice was gentle, "her body will start to transition the next full moon but without your bite, she is destined for months of suffering. She will come back. No one wants to experience that sort of pain."

"Except," he grabbed his beta's hand, "she doesn't know what we are." Colden met Lily's eyes. She was wrapped around Will's waist, her pale complexion milky white against the moonlights glow. A sad smile grew on her face and he hated that he was condemned to pity.

It was his fault.

"Maybe not. But the soul bond is more ancient than her mind and body. Trust me," she placed her manicured hand onto his arm, "you will have her."

Colden gazed up at the moon. The Gods gave him a challenge that he wasn't sure he'd survive. "I hope you're right."
