Present day.

The moonlight cast shadows over the room. They twisted and morphed as she moved to push the furniture out of the way. The apartment Alice has been renting for the past month was small, barely suitable for what she needed it for. But it was all that she could afford considering all the moving she had to do.

Sweat broke out on her skin as she shoved the coffee table against the front door. It wouldn't be much use if someone tried to come in but- she glanced at the stereo- she hoped that they wouldn't hear.

Her eyes flickered to the balcony once more; the moon sang and called to her like a lullaby, a melody that seduced her body and mind. It was hard to resist and it was why she had to resort to such harsh measures. This had been the case for the past 12 months. It wanted her to go to him. It wanted her to finish whatever she had started that night, whatever she had run away from.

The memories of their time still haunted her like a ghost.

Her reflection was striking in the glass. She had cut her hair the first month after she left, it was easier to manage especially when the full moon hit and the transition, or whatever it was, started. It hung to her collar bones in thick waves. Her eyes glowed from the light of the moon and from whatever it brought out within her. Often times she wondered whether she had become the monster she ran from... She hated herself.

She hated what he made her be and that nothing could tame it because she knew that the only solution was to seek him out.

Alice wanted to die. She had tried to. But each time she rose from the dead with one purpose in mind- find him, claim him, fuck him. She was a freak at best.

A shudder passed through her. The ticking sound of the clock in the kitchen ignited her nerve endings as a reminder. The hair on her arms and neck stood as the clock time moved towards eleven. That's when hell started.

She had 15 minutes.

Alice slowly took her clammy clothes off. Her body burned as if she was surrounded by a ring of fire. Her breaths came out laboured as the moon rose further and her heartbeat sped up.

She had the urge to leave and yet she couldn't; she had spent a year running and dodging and she didn't plan to give up. But every time the pull came, every time she somehow sensed him near her, her heart broke into fragments and pieces that she struggled to place by together.

Hatred filled her stomach.

The clock struck eleven and the tremors started. Tears burned her eyes with dread; the moon shone down on her, laughed at her as if she had caused this.

Alice grabbed the remote to the stereo and turned the music to one hundred. It didn't matter what played, as long as it drowned out her screams. By the time her neighbours complained she'd be long gone- police never came to the rough part of town in the middle of the night. The crime was too common for them to care. It was perfect for her.

Her skin bubbled and sizzled as her blood turned to molten iron. Sweat trailed down her face with every pulse of her heartbeat. Her eyes were glazed as she stared at the reflection of the moon wishing- begging- for it to end. Nothing eased the pain as her bones started to crack.

Her teeth turned to canines and from the glass reflection, she could see that her eyes had turned silver. She gripped the remote tighter as her fingers began to break. She had tried to had to hold in the sobs and the screams but...
