When the bell rang signaling time to go I ran out of the class faster than I ever moved before, resulting in me bumping into someone knocking them down in the process. Quickly leaning down to apologize, I looked at the person I bumped into and it was no other than Mimi Dillard former best friend and current enemy.
"Watch where the hell your going lard butt", Mimi said while being helped up by her drones. I said sorry quickly before she can cause a scene, but I should have known better than to think she has a tactful bone in her body.
When she was finally settled on her feet she stepped to me with her drones following closely behind her caging me into the wall of the hallway.
With a sneer on her face she said " Is it me or did you get bigger this summer, I mean come on, in eighth grade wasn't your weight already two hundred and ten pounds now I'm guessing your about three hundred" she said loudly causing everybody who was still in the hallway to look at me and snicker under their breath. I wouldn't have been that embarrassed if I didn't see Zander standing in the middle of the hallway looking at me with sympathy and concern. Bumping pass Mimi I quickly ran out of the school and decided to walk home instead of waiting for my brother to finish talking to his coach about the upcoming football tryouts, who would've know that walking home would've changed everything in my life.
Breathing hard and sweating I finally made it home, opening the door to a quiet house until I heard a high pitched scream. Knowing it was my mother I ran upstairs grabbing the broom from the wall while sprinting towards my mom's room, i was running like a bat out of hell and that caused me to crash through the room from tripping off the hallway rug. Looking up I heard a gasp, grunting and some more screaming and I seen my mom on top of my uncle Pete humping him like it was the last day on earth. I stared wide eye while my mom was screaming out her orgasm, I quickly scrambled to my feet trying to make as little noise as possible, but of course being me I banged into the dresser making both of them look up at me from their position.
My mom face scrunched up into an horror expression as she watched me run out of her room and back out the front door. Hearing someone calling my name i just kept running not looking back.
"Why is it always me that end up in these predicaments," I said to myself as I walked around my small little town, without a clue where I was going. No friends, Detention, Catching my mother cheating, and I was embarrassed in front of Zander, and this was just my first day of school. Walking pass Bernie's gas station I looked up at the giant clock that was on top of it, looking as if it'll fall any day and I seen it was around 3 am in the morning. I knew i had been gone to long and i had to go back home before they call the police which is really just three officers in our small town.
Sighing I trekked my way back home noticing the lights were off; with tears pricking my eyes, I knew no one went out to search for me.I went through the back door and silently as possible snuck back upstairs to room where I got a duffel bag out and starting packing the clothes I would need and anything I will miss, while crying silently so i wont wake up my younger sister who shared a room with me. Not caring that this will probably break my dads heart I continued packing not knowing exactly where I was going but knowing I had to get out of here. Quickly getting another bag I went downstairs and took some food from the pantry, while making myself a quick sandwich ; girl gotta eat right. After running upstairs I went to the back of my closet and got my tiny safe that kept the money I have been accumulating over the years from babysitting for various people around the neighborhood, counting the money I had close to two thousand saved.
Throwing the safe back into place something had slipped onto the floor, picking it up I seen it was a postcard from my grandmother. My mom doesn't talk much about her family and me and my other sibling have never met anyone from my moms side of the family. She never told us why they don't get along, all she mentioned is that they were bad people. But one day I went into my parents room trying to look for my left converse sneaker and I ended up finding over a hundred postcards addressed to me and my siblings. Thinking about it now how can someone be so bad if she's been trying to get in touch with us for years. Turning the postcard over I looked at the address seeing it was from Los Angeles,California, like a light bulb going off in my head I knew exactly where I was going. Walking out the house closing the front door gently I looked back at my house one last time, slowly turning my back to the pass walking away from this little small town and into my new future.
