Jelsa: I am not a monster

Prologue

Someone's pov:
I paced backwards and forwards, unable to settle down. Waiting for any sound in this piercing silence; in this pale blue hospital waiting room. Suddenly a loud scream broke the silence, it was my wife giving birth to our child painfully.

The sound of her agonising screaming comes to a sudden stop and is replaced with a babies cry as our child takes it's first few breaths in this world.

Then a frightened, although I don't know why, midwife appears from the room holding my child
"Congratulations Mr.Smith it's a boy" she says shakily.

"First day on the job is it?" I ask with slight chuckle in my voice, mocking the fact that she's shacking as if she were in the snow. She doesn't respond to my insult and continues to hold MY baby boy. I go to take him out of her arms and she pulls away from me.

"What's your problem?" I ask with a large amount of annoyance and demand. She still doesn't let go of him and refuses to make eye contact with me.
All she says is...

"I'm so sorry..."

I push past her and enter into the room where my dead wife's body lay covered in blood. I could do nothing but say

" This shouldn't of happened..."

I run out the room and I am faced with the same midwife, who had taken my now disowned son away, probably at the fear that I would take my anger out on him. If he was here I would break that boys neck.

I grab the midwife by her collar furiously and scream into her face.

"THIS SHOULDN'T OF HAPPENED!! SHE TOOK THE PILL!!"

I shove the midwife causing her to lose her balance land on the floor with a thud. I run out of the hospital away from that baby, that lifeless body. She had taken the pill this shouldn't of happened.

Ever scince the break through in 2028 not a single mother has died from child birth. The mother would have to take the pill every day from the day her first period started. She wouldn't die or get anything life threatening/ altering either.

All on all a guaranteed perfect birth.

But why did it not work on Lucy, my wife.
Was it a flaw in the pill?
Was I being punished?
All I know is that I'm going to find out why this happened
Why it happened to me...

And sure enough I found out the answer, and there was no way in hell I'm keeping it a secret...
