"Caitlyn, my dear, you musn't keep all of that child to yourself, she will never learn to take from her father"

Damian gave a hardy laugh, however, Caitlyn would not allow such a tragedy as for her to learn the bad traits of him. She was so reluctant to give up the child she had just bore not more than two weeks ago, even if it was to her own husband. . .truly the bond between a mother and their child was a tight one, unable to be unrestricted even in the most powerful of grips.

Caitlyn: "Dear, my husband, my love. . .I cannot force myself to let go of this child I have endured so much pain for."

Damian: "You needn't worry my love, for if she cannot come to me, than I shall come to her, just the same as I have always come to you when you needed me, is that not a promise I have proven to keep?"

Caitlyn: "My love, you know as well as I that you keep your promises. . .even if there is some sort of unwanted factor in it, such as when you told me you would be home before nightfall, and you showed up only to leave within seconds of having arrived. . ."

Damian: "I do believe we agreed never to speak of that day. . .you know I wanted to stay, but knightly duties must be followed, less we lose chances of surviving in this wretched state of being"

Caitlyn: "Yes darling, I am aware. Do not think I hold you trial for such an act."

Damian: "Sometimes I wonder about that. In any case, I believe you should rest here a bit longer until all the results have come through and we know what we should do about your. . .bleeding."

Caitlyn: "No pain in this world will be enough to keep me from loving this child, I already made that vow, correct?"

Damian: "As always, you have a counter argument for everything, truly it is spectacular to think I have never once won against you, despite all of my victories on the field. . ."

The both of them would take a glance into each other's eyes, Caitlyn finally managing to take her pupils off her child ever since she sat down. She held her words true that day she made her vow, she would never stop loving this child no matter what would occur. So long as she had her husband, she would ready for any trial ahead of them. Together, they were unstoppable.

KNOCK. KNOCK. KNOCK.

A foreboding knocking occurred  in the middle of their little moment together. Of course, as life would have it, they would have to wait to perform any sort of cherish-able act with one another.

Damian, with a heavy and disgruntled sigh, would raise himself from his own seat ext to his wife, and move towards the front door to their humble little house. It would take him roughly ten seconds to get to the door, and in those few seconds yet another knock would portrude through the air, towards the family's ears.

Damian: "Hold your hand! Who disturbs us this late at night? When the time for peace and tranquility arise to lull those good of nature to a restful sleep. .?"

Through the door, a voice would ring out to lay notice to the issue at hand that would rip apart Damian from his beloved Caitlyn.

???: "Lord Damian, the time for the battles will be tomorrow. The news would deliver upon us a terrible disaster that the Samurai have yet again breached the border, and are edging ever so close to one of our neighboring strongholds. We request that you arrive on the Eastern gate in the early morning before 6:00AM if possible!"

Damian, yet again, let out a sigh of disbelief. It was true what they say, war never changes and never ceases. What would it take to end a regional war against three factions willing to fight to their last breath should the need arise.

Damian: "You may tell the fellow knights that I will be there in time, far earlier than mentioned. We cannot allow the enemy any sort of upper hand. . ."

Caitlyn, from the main, living-room, could hear this retort that her husband had conjured up from his head. Perhaps she understood his work and the risks that came with it but still she wished to have some quality time with her beloved every now and again. Of course she also knew that life was unforgiving, and as such, she did not expect to receive much in exchange from it. Her beautiful baby girl was the only thing she truly wished to praise life for giving her. . .

???: "We have always been able to count on you, Lord Damian, I shall notify the other noble knights immediately!"

And so, with the peacefulness and bliss of the night having been interrupted, the chivalry induced knight would find his path back to his beloved, who, and if it looks could strike a foe dead, this would no doubt be the one to perform the action, would be giving him the coldest glare that not even the treacherous vikings could gift. . .and they were known for their very barbaric ways of handling situations.

Damian: "I wouldn't suppose that look would be one to remind me I have left the eel out too long. . ?"

Caitlyn: "Damian. . ."

It was at this moment that Damian knew this was no longer a matter that could be toyed with like many others, this was going to be a war within a home space. Caitlyn rarely addressed Damian by his name, and when she did, there was no telling just how terrible things may be.

Damian: "I understand. . .I understand that you are without attentiveness, and you wish to be with me longer, but duties call, and you know as well as I that if I refuse to answer, we will no longer live with such pleasantries. . ."

Caitlyn: "Do not speak to me of pleasantries, Damian. I know not to take what we have for granted, I simply wish. . .we had the luxury to. Why must things be this way. . .every hour of nearly every day of every week and so forth, there are troubles between our bond. . .can you honestly say we will ever be free to live life how we please. . ?"

Damian: "Caitlyn, I believe I finally have a strategy game won in my favor. You know that so long as I am in the Lord's Knightly Army, we will continue to receive benefits, and have I not promised you that I will NEVER die!?"

Caitlyn: "ENOUGH! . ."

A moment of silence filled the eerie scene that had transpired between the two. . .the newborn babe began to wail from fear of the unknown. Caitlyn let out a sigh of discontentment, and stared at Damian with a surprisingly soft gaze now.

Caitlyn: "Darling, you have promised me. . .I suppose that is more than enough proof for me. . .but please, let us keep our voices down for young Rosalind, if that is quite fine with you. . ."

Damian: "I refuse to make promises I can't keep. . .and it is for that reason that I have promised you I would always be with you. It is for that reason that I promise I will return to you from this battle. Further more; it is for this reason that I do NOT promise to keep quiet. . .for even I know not my rambunctious limits at times."

Caitlyn: "And here I wanted a child so badly, I already had one. . .or at least someone who acted like one. . ."

Damian: "You strike me harder than any sword or mace. . .you would do well on the battlefield, we ought to give you up to the enemies, they would surrender everything simply to return your presence to me. . .ha ha ha! HAHAHA!"

And so the night would continue on as normal, and the two would spend the next two hours with each other, until finally tire claimed their minds for its own, lulling the two off to sleep with one another, the baby at rest within the safety of her mother's arms that night. Nothing would separate them, not if Caitlyn could help it.
