Chapter 4

Baxter's POV

I left Wyatt with a golf club and a rifle in the car, and me and Shiggy went to scout out the place. The front doors where open, and the lobby looking area seemed to be empty. Shiggy violently tapped me on the shoulder.

"That sign says restrooms!" He pointed to a sign hanging on the wall.

"Yes, it does. Go take a leak if you need to."

"Oh, thank you, thank you, thank you!" He squeaked while awkwardly running to the bathroom with his legs close together.

I smiled, and walked around the place. I went up to the lobby service counter and leaned over the table thing. It looked as if someone had just left, the phone on its home, pens and papers stacked evenly. A cup of coffee was even still sitting there waiting to be drank.

"Baxter!" Shiggy yelled. I ran over to the bathrooms.

"Yeah?!"

"The lights are off."

I sighed with relief. I thought he was getting attacked or something.

"I'm here." I said, walking into the bathroom and turning my head as he was at the urinal. He zipped up and walked out of the bathroom with grace. I followed. He stopped in the middle of the lobby shortly after, gazing up at the crystal chandelier and then down at the grand piano in the corner.

"What...IS this place?" Shiggy asked in awe.

"I think this is where we'll be staying." I replied and shoved my hands in my jeans pockets. He looked back at me and grinned from ear to ear.

"This is incredible!" He dashed up the grand staircase, and looked down on me from above. His smile stayed as he took all of it in.

"Welcome-" a meek boy with messy brown hair said as he strutted into the area we were standing in.

"-to my crib. And yours too, if you wish to seek out the message I sent through the radio yesterday." He crossed his arms, waiting for a reply.

"Uh... Yeah, if that's okay with you." I said.

"I wouldn't have sent the message if it wasn't okay with me."

"Well, in that case, I consider us welcomed. I have my brother and supplies out in the car." I pointed a thumb to the door, and looked back at him.

"Okay, well find a room, and set up camp for your friends. And your name..?"

"Baxter. And that up there is Shiggy." I pointed up the staircase at the goof perched on a stair.

"Hello Shiggy!" He yelled to him. Shiggy looked over and gave an erratic wave. He turned his attention back to me.

"I'm Spark." He extended a hand, and I shook it with enthusiasm.

"Nice to meet you Spark."

"The same for you. Your Shiggy seems to like the place." He smirked.

"You have no idea." I laughed.

"My home is your home. Go find a place to stay. It's about time to hit the hay." He said, and watched me walk to Shiggy. He was at the very top of the staircase trying to open doors.

"Oh, and you might need these." Spark added, and tossed me a key ring. I caught them, and examined the keys.

"Thanks."

"No problem." He held out two fingers as in 'peace', and opened a door behind the service desk, then disappearing into it.

"Ready to explore?" I asked Shiggy, displaying the key ring on my finger. He smiled and nodded.
