ethan opened the door slowly, having been woken up by the relentless ringing of the doorbell. he was met with josh, face to face with him as josh stood on his welcome home mat outside his door. his clothes were soaked with water, ethans brain only now clocking that he could hear see and smell the heavy rain. it took him a while to take everything in but he began laughing as soon as he saw josh's small frown. "you woke me up from a nap, im not at all there with the world. come in, i assume you brought spare clothes? we can put the wet ones in the tumble dryer." ethan's voice was deep, coughing a few times before letting josh into the house and continuing "im home alone, enjoy the peace and quiet my mum likes to sing around the house a lot. i'll show you to the spare room, you can get sorted in there"

josh followed him calmly, smiling and nodding as ethan told him a few random things about his house. he was escorted into the spare room, being left alone so he could change. after changing and placing the wet clothes into the dryer they got situated in ethans bedroom, both lying lazily across the bed in silence.

after they both sat there for twenty minutes, confused on what to do or what to talk about they both began laughing at one another which led to them grinning like mad men. after a while josh pulled out some year 10 work for ethan to look through, having received it off simon (who had handed it to josh with a wink). after a few hours of josh teaching ethan and also having a bit of a revision session himself there was the sound of the door closing and the loud voice of ethan's mum calling up to them both.

they both looked at each other again, laughing as they both responded at the same time and listened in silence for a bit before they began to hear ruth begin her daily routine of singing while she did housework.

it was the early hours of the next morning that josh and ethan actually complete getting the software up and running for ethans computer, and both having completed the task felt like they were on top of the world. it was only four in the morning when ethan sorted out what his channel looked like and it was only five in the morning when they both sat around the screen and ethan recorded his first video, under the careful eye of josh who gave him a playful nudge when he began to ramble on.

and at seven in the morning, when ruth came in to say goodbye to them both before work she found them both still up- josh teaching ethan how to edit as they played around with transitions.
