"The fact that we are literally in a zombie apocalypse." He deadpanned as he ran his hands through his dark black hair.

I stare blankly at him for a few seconds and try to take in what he just said. Could it be true? Could something that is suppose to be impossible just... happen?

I stand up, walk to my room, and face plant onto my bed to escape the dark expressions of my companions; to just clear my head. What can we do? My mom is never home, so I literally live off of takeout and the closest weapon we have are old kitchen knives that are so dull they can only really be used to cut cheese and spread butter.

Now that I think about it I hope my mothers okay. She works at the hospital across town and I can't imagine the flood of people rushing there for help. I shiver at the thought of her being one of those souless monsters.

Quickly, I take out my cell phone and pray that the phone lines are still working. 'I hope you're alright. Get home as soon as possible. - message from raaee'

I try dialing her a few times, but no one answers. It's beginning to put me on edge and I quickly pace back to the living room where I find Veronica and Cole in a heated conversation.

"It would be best to head to the mountains because it's colder and on the plus side, zombies can't climb!" Veronica says frustratedly. Looking At them made me grimance at the way they were both at the edge of their seats, almost ready to kill each other.

"Well I say that we should get a boat and go out to sea. Did you also not realize they can't. Swim?" Cole replies with weird hand gestures. I sigh and rub my face with my hands. It's literally the apocalypse and these two can't debate if mountains or oceans are better.

It's kind of like a would you rather; Would you rather be stuck on a mountain and freeze your ass off with the hopes the undead can't make its way up, or risk years of sea sickness with other predators beside insanity? Ha, cool debate.

"Can you guys just shut up and stop yelling for one second?" Slamming my hand on the couch to attract their attention. They both jump and look at me startled.  "Right now, we should be worried about supplies and weapons because without those we won't make it anywhere." I cringe as the words topple out of my mouth. Since when did I become a Commander?

They quickly shuffle to their feet and Veronica shrugs, "Well knowing you, there isn't much food here and your house is as bare of weapons as running around naked outside screaming like a banshee." I chuckle at her comparison and nod.

"Yeah, the exact same thought crossed my mind. There's a convenient store down the block, but there's a heavy chance we are going to run straight into a shit storm." Cole suggest and I grunt in agreement. I walk to my kitchen and open up the draws that stocked all our knives. Pulling out a butcher knife, I begin slashing the air and making weird sound affects. I really hope it's sharp enough. Grabbing a few different lengths of knives I walk back to the living room and throw them on the coffee stand.

"Could these work?" I ask hopefully at them and instantly was shot down by their daunting looks as they examine them.

"Is this really all you have?" Cole complains and I shoot him a glare. It's not my fault I couldn't predict the end of the world and stock up.

"Yes." Was all I could choke out and I make turns around the house locking windows and the back door. Last thing I need is to have some zombie freaks roam into my house, or worse, looters. Well, we don't have much to take, but it's better safe than sorry.

"Ok. If we are going to do this we need to be ready." Veronica states while tying her hair up into a perfect bun and begins doing jumping jacks. Me and Cole stare at for a moment and laugh at how serious she looks.
