We all stare at the door with the same expressions. What will we face on the other side? I close my eyes and take a deep breath as I'm the first to take a step forward.

"Let's kick those zombies ass!" Veronica says as she slowly makes her way off the chair, but She grips her stomach and winces. "This might be a little harder than I thought." Cole goes and throws her hand over his shoulder.

"I guess we'll just have to support each other." My mother smiles and looks back me and nods. Lifting one of the bags packed with supplies I look at Quinn.

"You ready little one?" All she does is nod with an uneasy look on her face. I begin to make my way to the door and my hand grips the cool metal of the door knob. Again, I glance back at everyone and they all had a look of determination. I twist the handle and open it to reveal that Cole was right all along.

Blood splattered against the walls and chunks of flesh were scattered everywhere. The lights flickered and a horrible stench filled the air. I tighten my hold on my scalpel and I feel my heart begin to speed up. What the hell happened?

I motion for everyone to come out and I hear Veronica make a gagging noise, "God leave it to the undead to make a place unsterile." She grumbles as we all continue to walk down the hallway. I observe around us at the open doors of the patients rooms making sure we wouldn't have a jump scare.

We make it over to the front desk we had initially stumbled upon before and a lump forms in my throat. Blood trailed from the chair that once held the nurse down the hallway to who knows where. I can only hope it's not hers and that she made it out alive. My head snaps towards the direction of an upcoming corner and I stop in my tracks when I hear a faint noise in the distance. I put my hand up, motioning them to stop.

I peer around the corner and squint. The dark caresses the hallway and I can only see the outline of a figure. They appear to be shuffling and gripping their arm, but I look closer and notice them holding onto something. I turn and look at my mom and motion her to it. Quickly she pulls out what seems to be a bottle of pills, "They are expired and I thought they could make a good noise to distract them." She whispered. I never thought of that and I come up with another idea to add onto hers.

"Here, dump out some of the pills and add these dimes." I hand her the coins and she does as I say. With one toss the bottle hits the floor and a rattling sound can be heard. The figure doesn't react like we expect, but instead they speak.

"Careful where you throw those things. You almost hit my face." A mans voice says and I can't help, but feel recognition. They continue to walk until the dim light flicks onto their face revealing the older man from earlier. His hair no longer slicked into place; his suit was covered in blood. The object he was holding turns out to be a gun.

"You're the man from earlier." I said aloud and he examines me with a blank look.

"You ever find your kid?" My face flushes as I hear Veronica chuckle.

"Yeah, she's all well." Veronica jokes points at Quinn who holds my hand tightly and I roll my eyes. My mom walks over to the man and looks at his arm.

"That's a bad wound. What happened?" My mom questions and in the back of my mind I think of the movies. What if he was bit? Will he turn into one of those... things?

"Got into a fist fight with some angry folks'. One of them was bat shit crazy, they even bit me! Took off a big chunk as you can see." He groans and we all paused at his words. He doesn't know.

"How long have you been— bit?" Cole eyes the mans gun and who knows what he's thinking. The man shrugs his shoulders and scratches his head.

"Maybe a good 40 minutes ago."
