Remy Ruby knew anger was a dangerous emotion

Remy Ruby knew anger was a dangerous emotion. It was powerful. It was explosive. It was untamable. But most of all, it was destructive. She had seen it firsthand how Chevelle had destroyed others with her anger and how anger had also destroyed her in return.

Rey had sworn she wouldn't let the emotion consume her like it had to Chevelle. Whenever she was on the brink of losing her temper, she would always be reminded of the broken furniture and the shattered lives of the people her sister had ruined on her period of outrage.

But as she drove her way back home, she couldn't find her usual sense of reasoning. All that was in her mind right now was how to plot ways to deal with the arrogant detective the next time they meet — if there was a next time. That man and his impudence would be his downfall. He was brave, she would admit that, but too much bravery was nothing more than being recklessly bold.

Remy pulled up near the lobby entrance and killed the engine, still hurling the detective's snotty face with curse words inside her head.

The throbbing of her hand was a constant reminder of what had happened earlier back in T.J's apartment, adding fuel to the still blazing fire. She would never admit it out loud but she knew that the man had a power over her — the power to leave her reeling in anger. And she hated the very truth of it.

Taking long strides, she had just set foot into the apartment lobby when she heard it. The undeniable shout of her name, followed by the recurring clicks of camera flashes. Before she knew it, she was surrounded by a horde of reporters, all shoving recorders and phones into her face.

The whole thing fueled her anger towards Detective Tristan Rodriguez. If it wasn't for him, her mind wouldn't be consumed with irrelevant thoughts of him and she would have noticed the line of news vans by the parking lot as well as the journalists lurking near the entrance.

A black rectangular object was shoved into her face, barely scraping past her nose. She caught a glimpse of blonde hair before being barraged by camera flashes. "Please comment something on her boyfriend's supposed involvement in your sister's murder!"

"Did T.J Sanders really murder Chevelle Ruby?!"

Rey clenched her jaw as she pushed her way through the throng of hypocrites. The blinding flashes from their cameras were overwhelming, and there was nothing she could do except to move on, covering her face. Her temper was threatening to lash out, and she was barely reining it in. Running back to her car was impossible, with the reporters attacking her from all sides. All she could now do was to rush towards the elevators, which she could faintly see from across the sea of nosy reporters.

"What do you think happened to your sister?"

"Please comment something, Miss Ruby!"
