Monday | 4:25 p.m.Maybe it was because Rey usually didn't drink or maybe it was the traumatic experience she went through last night that despite the painkillers she had before she went to sleep, Rey still woke up with a dull headache the next morning.
Fortunately for her, Kaden had assured that her ankle just suffered a mild strain and would be fine the next morning before he left her apartment last night. And just like he had promised, she was now walking around her university campus well enough, though the cuts and welts on her foot would leave her beautician appalled.
Throughout the day, students and professors alike shared their condolences for Chevelle's death, but Rey could see the accusing look in their eyes, as if they had wanted to ask if T.J had been the one who murdered her sister. Usually, Rey would have said something in his defense, but after what happened last night, she completely ignored their looks and instead gave her perfected fake smile in gratitude.
Ever since she woke up this morning, she strongly hoped that last night was just a nightmare, that the thugs hadn't revealed T.J's secrets. But the bruises on her body were more than proof, and Rey had no choice but to come to the conclusion that T.J wasn't as innocent as she believed him to be.
Making her way towards her last class, Rey barely noticed her friends until June bombarded her with a force that would surely hurl her across campus if she hadn't hold her back in a bone crushing hug. Rey's face furrowed into a pained wince, scared that she would sprain her ankle once more.
"Finally caught you here, Rey!" June pulled away from her body though she hadn't stepped away from her yet. "You can't possibly think you could avoid us even if you decided to show up only for afternoon classes."
"Give Rey some space, June. You are way too energetic even after the Physics lecture you dislike so much." A male voice piped up from behind them, and Rey turned around to see Miles Rutherford, the British beauty of their squad. Warm chocolate eyes landed on her and a small smile graced his lips as he pulled June away from her towards his side.
"I just miss my best friend, you hunk. You are just telling me that cuz' you've already met Kaden this morning." June pouted as she glared up at the tall British man.
Dark eyebrows quirked up in a perfect arch before he started speaking in his posh accent that had many girls swooning. "Are you sure about that? Because I can't help but remember you telling me about wanting 'all the juicy details' between Rey and Kaden from last night."
June gasped, her doe-eyes widening into saucer-like circles. "You don't say that in front of Rey!"
Miles shoved his hands into the pockets of his pants and shrugged nonchalantly, though his eyes crinkled in amusement. Rey couldn't help but chuckle at her two friends, their presence immediately brightening up her day.
"Anyway," June snaked a hand around Rey's arm, and looked at her with a cheeky smile. "Care to tell me what happened between you and Kaden last night? The idiot won't say anything when I asked him earlier."
