The party was at full swing, girl's grinding on guys they didn't know of until the next morning, others enjoyed the music blasting through the speakers that would be higher than the decibels in their ears could handle, some swimming in the pool playing truth or dare and everyone else playing beer pong at the table tennis area in the basement.
I swirled the vodka in my cup and then tilted my head back as the burning liquid went down my throat. I poured myself another shot and drank it without a second thought.
"Amber, what might a pretty girl like you be doing at a time like this?
"Not caring about the asshole who so happens to be standing beside me," I scoffed and sent Tyler a look he knew all too well.
"Oh, Queen of Northview Valley, care to share your knowledge on the new young man?" his voice projected a playful royal tone and he jutted his chin softly towards Nathan.
I bit my lip, "Not much I know besides of his departure during the summer break between 8th and 9th grade."
Tyler simply nodded his head and grabbed himself his own drink, pouring some Jack Daniels into his red cup.
"A little birdie around town told me you two weren't exactly best friends," another deep voice suddenly interjected and I looked to my other side and found Zane walking over with a half bottle of beer in his hand.
"You could say that," I drank the residue of what was left in my cup and frowned before pouring the rest of the Absolut bottle into it.
Tyler's forehead creased as he furrowed his brows, "What exactly does that mean?"
"They always had disagreements," Zane's reply was nonchalant but Tyler's face now showed nothing but an impassive look.
I cleared my throat, "If you two will excuse me, I've got to go find Eliza."
They both nodded and I pushed off the counter top I was leaning on and walked into the crowd of people on the dance floor. Which left the guys talking endlessly about their cars and the hot girls at the party.

My bedroom was one of the only rooms that were padlocked shut so that people wouldn't go in. My high tolerance for alcohol let me slip out the key and unlock it gracefully.
I was currently retouching my make up when a knock on the door interrupted me, I placed the brush down and opened the door finding Eliza on the other side.
"I knew you'd be in here," she beamed and walked in. She was wearing a light pink dress from what I assumed was from Prada, it reached just above knee length and had a wrap-effect for the bodice. Knowing what she's like I knew she spent her living expenses on this one dress, and maybe the heels too.
"You look like you're going to a formal dinner party, not a Northview high school party," I dead-panned and began to walk back to my bathroom, from my peripheral vision her lips formed a frown and worry was glazed into her eyes.
