Three friends, One true pair

Chapter One

A warm Spring Friday.

As usual, I woke up late but early enough to get my morning routine done. I got dressed, and got my backpack. I quickly ran and got my shoes on.

"Jieun-ah! I packed lunch for you and Jaehyun, come get it!"

I groaned, grabbed the lunches and stuffed them in my backpack before heading out.

Jaehyun was waiting for me in front of my house like he did everyday.

"You arrived earlier than usual." He laughed and walked beside me.

"Shut up." I said irritatingly. "My mom packed us lunch." I zipped up my backpack and swung it on. "Yah Jaehyun, wanna race to school?" I smiled, nudging him.

"I'd beat you any day." he said proudly with his head up high.

I looked at him with a disgusted face before pushing him.

"Last one to school has to do the winner's homework!" I laughed and ran.

"Yah! That's not fair! Aish-" But I was already far from him, I decided that since I was going to win anyways, I slowed down and just walked happily. Without me knowing, he had already caught up to me pretty quickly. He sneaked up behind me and pulled my ponytail.

"Hey Jieun."

"Ahh- what?" I held my ponytail while smacking Jaehyun's hand repeatedly for him to let go.

"Good luck doing my homework." he laughed and jogged off. I watched as he jogged to school and muttered, "punk." I sighed and fixed my hair before running after him.

I attended a school that was separated by gender. One side of the building was all girls and the other, guys. Like always, I sat at my seat when it was homeroom listening to music after a tiring few hours of learning.

As my eyes closed briefly, I was awakened by a good friend, Gayoon.

"Jieun-ah." she said as she lightly patted me to wake up.

"Mm? What what?" I said tiredly, with my eyes half open.

"It's time for lunch! Hurry! Let's go." she said excitedly as she left the classroom.

I sat up quickly and looked at the time. I grabbed my backpack and hurried out the class. As I was running and trying to put my phone in my backpack, I ran into Jongsuk, one of the most attractive guys in school. We made eye contact for a bit but I just kind of stared at him as he was walking by, while he- he curved the side of his mouth into a smirk and head to lunch. I stood there smiling to myself, I didn't know whether to feel blessed that I ran into him today or sorry. I quickly snapped back into my normal self and got to lunch.

I arrived to the table my friends were at, lunch was always fun. It wasn't separated by gender, I got to see the punk.

"Yah, Jieun-ah. What took you so long?" said Jaehyun.

"She fell asleep." said Gayoon.

"Actually, I ran into Jongsuk." I sighed happily and smiled before continuing, "He's so tall and handsome- Unlike you."

Jaehyun glared at me and quickly slid his hand down my face. "Aish, quit talking about him and get the food your mom packed for us out."

I glared at Jaehyun and got our lunches out.

"How can you two deal with him everyday?" I asked his two friends, Joon Young and Myungsoo.

Joon Young looked at me and laughed a bit. "I don't. This guy does." Myungsoo shook his head and laughed. We all continued eating happily.

"Jieun-ah, do you like that guy?" he pointed his head towards Jongsuk. Everyone looked at me seriously.

I made a disgusted face to Jaehyun and said, "No, I just think he's really attractive. I can't like him if I barely know him. Why? Ahh, you're always thinking I like someone by appearance, punk."

"O-Oh, okay." Jaehyun said handing the container to me.

Gayoon, Myungsoo and Joon Young looked at Jaehyun and smiled as if they knew something.

I briefly smiled at Jaehyun and said, "I'm not your maid." and I packed up to go to class.
