Chapter 20.
---------------------------------
August 23rd, 1957:
Bunny and Greg had said that they were going to McKnight's, and had invited me and Dom along, as a double date.
So Dom and I were standing outside of McKnight's as Dom struggled to light his cigarette.
"Can't you do this when we go in?" I groaned. He ignored me and kept trying, until he finally got it.
"Ah, yes." He said, inhaling.
"I know you're stalling." I said. He grinned at me.
"I could've done that in 2 seconds. You know me too well, stooge." He put his arm around my shoulders as we walked through the doors.
I immediately spotted Bunny's blonde hair and Greg's large, muscly figure. Dom rolled his eyes as I dragged him along.
"Oh, it's Marg and Dom!" Bunny exclaimed in her high pitched voice and stood up to greet us. She gave me a tight hug and gave Dom one, as well. He glanced at me as she squeezed him, silently telling me we shouldn't have come.
Greg just gave Dom a quick nod and then we were all sitting down, a giant basket of fries and 4 burgers sitting in front of us. Bunny looked back and forth between me and Dom. "Come on, eat, people!"
"You know, I'm not that hungry. Junk isn't my thing." Dom said.
"Oh, aren't you so prim and proper." I laughed.
"Honestly, Margaret, it's so gross." He said, obviously trying not to laugh with me.
"Burgers are so good, man! How can you not eat them?" Greg asked while biting into his for more emphasis.
Dom shrugged, "I just don't."
"Suit yourself." I said and grabbed a burger of my own. Dom pretended to stick two fingers down his throat and I playfully slapped his arm.
Dom began warming up to Bunny and Greg, but only a little. He didn't seem like he hated them anymore, but he still didn't start many conversations with them.
We stayed there for about 2 hours, until Greg said that he and Bunny had better get going.
"Wait," Bunny said, pulling Greg back down to sit. "Dominic, why did you date that slutty Theresa?" She asked, and then stuck her tongue out for effect. Dom rolled his eyes.
"Oh, God," He said and put his hand on his forehead. "We don't need to talk about that."
"Yes we do!"
"No we don't."
Bunny narrowed her eyes at him. "Ugh, whatever, fine. See ya, Marg," She waved happily at me and then glared at Dom. "Dominic."
When that was finally over, Dom let out a sigh and looked at me. "We shouldn't have even come, I'm telling you."
"Oh, please. Don't be a baby." I said, lightly hitting his chest.
"I'm not! How do you deal with her? She is annoying." He said as we got in my car.
"Only sometimes... she means well." He just gave a laugh of disbelief.
We decided to go back go my place to hang out for a while, and have time to ourselves.
We headed up to my bedroom, and Dom immediately closed the door and pressed me to my bed. I grinned knowingly at him and let his luscious lips meet mine. I felt the cold metal of his cross necklace which he told me about the night we first kissed. It brushed my neck and I felt goosebumps raise on my skin. Why was it so hot when guys wore necklaces?
