Chapter Eight: Sweet

I froze.

My body tingled all over and my skin broke out in the same goosebumps that emerged at Jesse's touch; only this time they surfaced in shock.

I blinked away tears and realised quickly the situation I was in. I wasn't supposed to hear any of that. As far as Walt and Jesse are concerned I'm at the car right now.

But I have heard it and I want answers.

Not from Mr White - I know what a cold hearted son of a bitch he can be from the way he abandoned Jane - but Jesse.... I just can't believe he would throw away what we have. Especially not to protect the 50 year old high school professor turned meth mastermind that just a few years ago he hated. Then again I don't know exactly what it is me and Jesse have anymore, except nearly 8 years of close friendship. Obviously that meant more to me than it did to him...

You know what?

Fuck answers I want revenge.

And I know exactly how I'm going to get it.

I wiped the tears from my eyes and composed myself before plastering a fake smile on my face and bouncing up to Mr White and Jesse.

"Guys!" I shouted attempting to sound as happy as I possibly could.

Both Mr White and Jesse looked up at me, startled.

"I don't have the car keys", I continued as Mr White fumbled around in his pockets, looking to retrieve the keys.

"Here" Mr White spoke in an irritated tone as he extended his hand to pass me the keys. He obviously wasn't very happy that I'd interrupted their cozy little chat.

"No it's cool, I actually came back to say I have to shoot off. Melissa just called and apparently mom and dad got into this huge fight and I really need to get back. So I'm going to call Badger and get a ride back home".

"Oh babe that sucks" Jesse spoke sympathetically although I gathered it was pretty fake. "Well it's 11 now right so I'll be out of here in an hour. I'll call you when I'm back and you can come over. I'll take your mind off whatever's going on at home." Jesse teased with a wink.

I never thought I'd say it but hearing Jesse's voice was making me feel sick to my stomach.

"I'll hold you to that", I had to force a playful smile onto my lips as I turned my back and walked towards the front of the rehab centre. As I walked I text Badger to ask for a ride - time to put my plan into action.

BADGER'S CAR

Around twenty minutes later I was sat in the passenger seat of Badger's car.

"So where you going yo?" he asked. "Jesse's place or like your real home?".

"Actually Badge, can you drop me off at my grandma's old house? Melissa's going to meet me there. She's at her boyfriend's house and it's like a block away or something so.."

"Yeah, yeah cool man, that's Negra Arroyo Lane right?"

"That's the one" I smiled.

A few moments of silence passed as I thought about how to bring up the subject of the meth business. I can't believe this but I'm in a situation where I really need Badger to be involved in this too. If he isn't my whole plan could fall apart...

"Badge" I spoke cautiously. "I need to talk to you about something important and I really need you to be honest with me. I'm not going to be angry or any shit like that I just really need the truth. I've been lied to so much I really can't take another person I love lying to me."
