Among the Dead

Episode 2

"Oh. My. God. You mean you brought us up here to help you think of a plan. Because of your lack of incompetence? You are garbage! Trash! Rubbish! Waste of my time. I have got my own plan. And it's a real plan. Better than your stupid idea. Goodbye and good riddance." she said as she left the roof.

"Lily!" I yell.

No answer.

I look down.

"You guys can go...remember...the herd comes in a couple weeks." I say and everyone walks slowly past me and I slouch in the corner.

Then I stand straight up and start thinking out loud.

"I can compromise...of course some of the adults will already be shooting. The young kids could come up here some people could run to the forest...but...then some people would be separated. That is...I could tell them to not go to deep and just get high ground. Yeah that works...everyone has to get to high ground!" I exclaim.

"Nice." a sexy voice says and I turn around to see Jake.

I blush.

"Thanks..." I say.

"But what are you going to do about Lily?" he asks stepping closer.

"I don't know...I'm just trying to help everyone and...well she's making it so difficult...and honestly...I'm scared." I say as he keeps stepping forward.

Soon he is 5 inches from my face. Come closer I telepathically tell him. But instead he puts his hand on my shoulder and smiles and I smile back and he walks away.

The next day

I gather everyone back up and bring them back up on the roof.

"I have created a compromise. If we get to high ground we might be safer. Zombies can't climb. But we can. You just have to be faster." I say and everyone nods.

"Well, I guess you are just taking everyone else's ideas and calling it your own." pipes in a familiar voice. Lily...

"She's not." says a voice behind me and it gives me the chills. I feel his arm on my shoulder. I know who it is right away. Jake.

"Lily...either you're with me or against me. if you die at all in three days...I can't ever forgive myself. Hell, if anyone dies in three days I know it will be my fault." I tell her.

"Then maybe I'll just die, just to spite you." she says and turns on her heel and leaves the roof. Then I leave the roof.

"Lexi what are you doing?" asks Lucy.

"We've got to let the others know." I say and head for town square and gather a crowd.

"We've got a plan. Your children came up with a plan to save us all. We've got to get to high ground when the dead come! You just have to listen." I say.

"And why should we listen to a little girl?" says a man.

"Because...it could save your lives." I say.

People start to discuss it. Some nod. Some shake their heads. Some don't do anything at all.

"They're coming in two days. There's too many of them to kill. I don't want my children to become them. She has a point." they all say.

"We don't have much time. And if you have a better idea, then tell us." I say and that seems to win them over. They all cheer loudly.

Two days later

There are moans and the siren goes off. I look out my window and see people climbing onto their roofs and climbing trees. I see people blocking off ramps and stairs. Anything that would save themselves and their family. I get

dressed and walk outside and climb on the roof.

"Mom!" a little girl screams from the ground. Oh God she can't be down there right now. I see Jake climb up the roof. He looks at me and I jump.

"Lexi!" he screams. A sharp pain stabs my ankle.

"Dammit..." I wince and jog towards the girl. I touch her shoulder and she turns around.

"Where's my mom?" she asks in panic.

"I don't know, but you can't be down here." I tell her.

She starts to cry as I drag her onto the roof. I hold her as the herd breaks down the door to the town. I then see Lily walking towards the herd.

"LILY!!!!!!" I scream.

"LILY NO!!!!" I screech.

I jump down again...but I land in a pot hole and twist my ankle.

I scream.

"LEXI!" screams my mom.

"Mom...get on the roof..." I wince.

"But...Lexi..." she starts to cry.

"GO!" I yell.

She gets on the roof. I get up and half run half limp to Lily.

"Lily...please..." I say and start to drag her.

"Lexi! All you do is help. Don't you ever think about yourself?" she asks.

"Lily-" I start,  seeing a walker coming towards her hand.

"Lexi...answer the question." she tells me.

"Lily!" I yell but it's too late. It bit her right pinky, ring and middle finger. I take out my pocket knife and stab it in the head and it goes down.

I drag the screaming Lily into the house, take a knife out of the holder and chop off her grey hand. I drag her to the spare room and give her a roll of paper towels and the knife.

"Just in case." I say and give her a gun.

"In the head." I tell her and limp out. I quickly climb back up on the roof and cry a little.

Lily P.O.V.

DID SHE SERIOUSLY JUST TELL ME TO FUCKING KILL MYSELF? But she couldn't have...why would she tell me to kill myself...if she saved my life...or maybe it's because...

*Flashback*

Lexi gives Lily gun

"In the head."

*Another flashback*

Lexi stabs zombie in head with pocket knife

*Another flashback*

Lexi gives Lily papertowels and knife.

*Real life*

"Oh...god...I've been such...a...BITCH!" I say between tears.

I bring the gun to my mouth.

I feel the metal land on my teeth. The taste of metal. I look at my stump. I remember Lexi. I remember Jake. I bring the gun away from my mouth. Then I hear moaning outside my door. I open the door and see a zombie. Then I realize what Lexi meant.

I hold up the gun.

"Night night motherfucker!"

Idk...is it too long? Should it be this long? I feel like I made it too long...sorry...
