Every day for the semester, Jade and I would do little things to each other. She would maybe nudge me in the side when we walked by eachother, or do something to try to annoy me, but it just made me like her more and more. We became really good friends. I have to admit that I did get terribly shy in front of her. It was miserable.
Jade lived very close to me, so we would walk home with each other everyday. She wanted to know as much as she could about me, but all I wanted was to know about her. Jade was extraordinary. The only thing I didn't like about her was that she had so many insecurities.
Jade had a habit of putting her hair in front of her face to cover her cheeks up. She thought she had a rather chubby face. She would put her legs together because she thought her thighs were too big. It made me want to scream and say, "JADE STOP YOUR BEAUTIFUL!!" She was, she just couldn't see that.
I knew I was developing feelings for her from the time I met her, but she has feelings for another boy. Harry Styles. God, I liked the fellow until I heard about her little 'crush' she had on him. He moved here from Britain to play rugby for the university in Sydney. She said that he was just really hot and it was hard for any person to not find him attractive. I had never seen his face,but I could probably predict he wasn't as attractive as everyone said.
I lied and told Jade that I had feelings for this hot senior girl named Emma. I really didn't. I wasn't going to say I had feelings for Jade because I was afraid it would affect our growing friendship. And I wanted to make her jealous too.
We exchanged numbers a few days after we met, and we didn't stop texting. I never wanted to stop texting her. She would tell me stories and her gossip. And I was always there ready to listen to anything she had to tell me about her day, or her week. Anything.
I was staying at Ashton's place one night after soccer practice. We were planning on playing FIFA and play some music, until out of nowhere I started babbling about Jade's little crush on Harry to Ashton. I probably sounded like an idiot when I was letting my frustration out about it. Ashton was just laughing and talking about how insane I sounded.
I decided to text her that night.
L: Hav any pics of Harry? Ash and I want to see him
J: no but I can find 1:)
J: I found one but he doesn't look good in it
L: ya coz I will really judge -_-
J: luke yes u will
L: yeah I probs will
It took her a few seconds to send the pic and holy mother of god, was he hot? No he wasn't. He was the most attractive piece of shit I had ever witnessed. His luscious hair, his tattoos, his legs! His legs were better than mine!! Ashton and I were speechless. How could I compete with this? He doesn't know her that well, so that's an advantage. I just need them to stay away from each other.
L: Wow he's charming
J: haha ya he is
L: heard about Ash's little fancy?
J: tell me everything LUCAS
L: well her name is Kendall
J: u mean the most popular girl in our school Kendall?!
L: he has a 7% chance with her
J: ya ash srry but u need to find a girl in ur area
L: he just flipped u off through the phone
J: luv u 2 ashhyyy! So who is this girl u like LUCAS?
L: first of all stop calling me LUCAS! And 2- her name is emma
J: aww my 2/4 babies are growing up <3
L: I'm older than u
J: i am more mature tho
L: go to bed child, it's past ur bed time
J: goodnight unpredictable luke
L: goodnight extraordinary jade
And after that statement I slowly drifted to sleep.

I was woken up by Ashton saying, "Dude we have five minutes til practice starts." We had to make a run for it. I through on a football jersey, and raced out the door with Ashton.
Practice went on like usual. We ran. We kicked. We ran some more. Michael made a huge fuss over why he didn't get pizza for his birthday last year. Calum made some remark about the trees looking beautiful with the sun rising in the background. Ashton giggled at everything any of us said. Jade and I would mouth things to each other while coach was talking. I had to say that I was enjoying football a lot more since Jade was around.
After practice we did our same routine and went to the bathrooms to change. I walked to school with Jade and all the boys. Michael was talking about how we should all meet up at his place tonight for a pool party with just the five of us.
"Yeah, we could play a little football then go night swimming. If would be a hell of a night." Michael said. "I'm so down." Ashton and Calum said almost in sync. "Yeah I'll be there. Jade, you?" I asked trying to play it off cool. "Who else would I want to hang out with other then my four best friends who I have to interact with every day?" She said sarcastically. "Honey, any girl would kill to spend ten minutes with us." Michael said while intensely popping his collar with pride. "Well then I can't miss this opportunity of a lifetime." Jade said making us chuckle.

We eventually got to Michaels place around five pm. They played some football. I wasn't really in the mood. Calum kicked the ball into the pool at least six times, so they stopped playing after that. We all talked, had a few drinks, just had a great time.
Around seven we decided we should get into the pool since the sun was slowly setting. We were all going to jump in at the same time, but Ashton being the idiot slipped and fell hurting his bum. It was hysterical. It was a lot funnier to us because we were really drunk, and we thought everything was hilarious. Calum started laughing because my hair wasn't quiffed. Michael stood in the corner of the pool looking suspicious. "I just pissed. Don't go over there." He said making us flee the pool. Ashton had ice on his ass while he was relaxing on a lawn chair. It was off to a kind of a crazy night.
We decided to play the game that was intended for eight year old girls at sleepovers. Wow my friends are so mature. We played it anyway. The classic truth or dare.
"Okay, Calum. Truth or dare?" Michael asked. "Truth." Calum replied. "Who is the most obnoxious person in the room?" Michael asked motioning to all of us. "It changes day to day. All of y'all are annoying as hell, but mostly Michael. Calum told us. "Wow, love you so much, Cal." Michael replied.
"Jade, truth or dare?" Ashton asked. "Dare obviously!" Jade remarked like it was a no-brainer. "I dare you to make out with the person to your left." Ashton said giving a smirk. Wait I was sitting by her! It could be me! This would be my chance to kiss the girl who I have liked for months! I looked over to see her sitting to my LEFT. Great, I have to watch her kiss one of my best friends. This is just amazing. Who was sitting to her left anyway? I would be okay with maybe like Calum, or Ash. In the middle of my thoughts I heard Calum shout "KISS MICHAEL" over and over, and then Ashton jumped in than I realized that she was going to kiss Michael. The one I didn't want her to kiss.
Everyone started to clap. I probably looked like I was having a rough time dealing with this, so I just went with everyone else. I started saying "KISS MICHAEL" even though it was torturing me the entire time.
Michael slowly brought his hand up to her cheek, and leaned into Jade. Jade kind of jumped at his sudden urge, but she leaned in soon after. I was jealous. Not a little bit. A LOT. It felt like they had been kissing for five minutes not five seconds. After twenty seconds they finally pulled away from one another.
"Hey we should do that more often." Jade said making me lose all hope.
