May Allen had gone from a small-town girl to one of the most popular actresses in Hollywood. She grew up living and working on her father's farm, and as much as she had always loved that farm, she wanted more. She was in every school play, but in the small parts. No one believed she would ever make it big, and she desperately wanted to prove them wrong. A few days after she turned 20, a nearby town had a casting crew visit to look for young women to play Lorna Downey, a girl fresh out of college who gets powers after an encounter with an asteroid that turned out to be a spaceship. Lorna was a girl no one believed in, and when she got the powers to control metal, she became a hero and faced the villain Frost, who had the ability to control ice, water, and snow that she also received from the ship Lorna got her powers from. In the end, Lorna had to kill her old best friend, who turned out to be Frost, to save many more people. It was a story of betrayal, growth and love, and also a story of a badass girl who was previously working in a fast food restaurant.
And that part of the badass girl who was previously working in a fast food restaurant was a part that, according to an interview with the people who cast her, "May Allen was born for."
"I wouldn't say that, exactly. I was staying over with my parents, helping my dad out on his farm. My friend Natasha had called me, told me about the casting crew in Springfield. Natasha may have honestly been the one person who thought I had a chance in the movie business as an actress. Anyway, after she told me the information, she practically yelled at me to go and try out for the part. One of the only reasons I snuck out of the house and went was because I was scared of what she would do to me if I didn't. So I went, and I guess I did good because here I am." May said in her first interview after the movie was released. Ever since the tale of Lorna Downey, or Metallica, was shown in theatres, May became a hero in her town. Which she never returned to because she hated everyone who lived there with the exception of her family and Natasha.
Since then, May kept on working on movies, being cast in big parts and small parts, and even after the third Metallica movie that resulted in the end of the popular character, May was still keeping up her work. She had gotten a lot of friends, but her single greatest friend would always be Natasha Romanoff, who was able to get her own acting career up and running. They starred in a lot of movies together as well, and became known as the "Dynamic Duo", with the only movie they didn't do together being May's first movie, Metallica. Until May was asked to star in the newest Space Wars movie. After learning the great news, Natasha immediately took them out to eat to celebrate.
"You're going to be starring as the villain, though. That's the only downside," Nat said after taking a bite out of her sandwich. May nodded, her mouth full of waffles.
"Yesh, but not foh da whoe movie seriesh." May replied, making Natasha groan a bit.
"Ugh, May, come on. You could have waited til you were done eating. Disgusting." Nat complained, looking away from May. May laughed a bit.
"Sorry. Hey, is it okay if I tell you a spoiler?"
"No. But sure."
"My character doesn't stay a villain. The good guy turns her to the lightness." May whispered.
"Really? How does that happen?"
"It's quite cliche, really. They fall in love." Nat rolled her eyes.
"The fans aren't gonna like that, you know." Nat sang.
"Ugh, the fans never like anything. Plus this character's backstory shows that she never really wanted to be in the darkness anyway. It makes more sense in the last movie."
"Yeah, hopefully. Anyway, I heard that you're gonna be starring with Sam Wilson in this one. And everyone knows he's had a crush on May Allen since the second Metallica movie came out." Nat smirked a bit, and May shook her head.
