Song: Sweet Disposition by The Temper Trap

Harry’s POV

“What did you say?” I asked in disbelief.

“Save her,” he repeated.

“I can’t Louis!” I protested.

“Why?” he asked angrily.

“She hates vampires!” I spat. “Why would I turn her into the one thing she hates?”

“You can’t just let her die!” he said.

“I can’t have her hating me for all eternity,” I said. “If I turned her, that’s what would happen!”

“Do you love her?” he asked.

“Of course I do,” I whispered.

“Then do it,” he insisted.

I took one brief look at Ariana’s paling face before shoving Louis out of the way and lifting up my sleeve. I bit into my own wrist until I felt blood flowing down my arm. Brushing a strand of hair away from her face, I stuck my wrist against her slightly parted lips.

“Come on Ari,” I murmured in encouragement.

After holding it there for a few minutes, my wrist started to heal and I took it away from her mouth.

“Did it work?” Louis asked tentatively.

“I don’t know,” I breathed. “We’ll find out in a few hours.”

Louis came over and kissed her on the forehead. “If and when she wakes up, please tell her I’ll miss her.”

 “Wait, you’re leaving?” I asked.

“Yeah; even though it’s Ariana, I can’t be friends with a vampire. It’s against our rules,” he said sadly.

“So you’re just abandoning her?” I asked angrily.

“I don’t have a choice!” he yelled.

“You know what? Leave,” I said, standing up and getting in his face. “Run away like the coward you are.”

Louis scowled at me before grabbing Jack’s arm and hauling the both of them out of the cellar. I scooped up Ariana’s limp body into my arms and cradled her into my chest before carrying her up the stairs and to my bedroom. I kicked open the large door with my foot and laid her down gently on my neatly made bed previous to stuffing pillows all around her body to make her comfortable. I laid down beside her and took one of her cold hands in mine to link our fingers.

“You’re going to be okay,” I whispered to the empty room. “You have to be.”

I lay motionless on the bed for hours.

The sun started to rise, peeking through the dark drapes on the window and washing over my face.

She should’ve woken up by now.

I looked over to her peaceful expression and sighed deeply.

Maybe it didn’t work.

Tears gathered in my eyes and I pushed myself off the bed frustratedly. My feet carried me quickly to the door and my hand rested on the handle. Just as I was about to turn it and leave the room, I got the shock of my existence.

“Harry?”
