Hello everybody it's Alice once again and in this chapter we will be talking about a game called Enigma.

Enigma is an rpg maker horror game made by a Korean gaming company.

You play as the character Minhyuk throughout the game. Minhyuk wakes up one day and realizes that his mother is dead in his very own room. Of course this confuses him and he starts to panic. Eventually he leaves the room and goes to knock on his brother, Samoon's, door. But he notices a noise and goes to check it out and comes to the conclusion that there is a killer in the estate and goes to find his other siblings before it's too late.

From there on it is a constant chase between Minhyuk and the killer which ends up being basically a run, hide, or die situation for the most part, and eventually things start to get a little bit out of hand. Along the way Minhyuk's objective is not only running from the killer but also uncovering the dark, unsettling, and greedy secrets of the family. Every sibling's motivation will somehow always be linked with greed.

You also have a health bar to look after which is normal but you also have a fear bar to look after as well. If you've ever played the game Amnesia, you might see some similarities. If the fear bar drops completely, Minhyuk will go into a panic phase and run/move frantically for who knows how long. I personally never had the fear bar go completely down so I cant say for certain how long it takes for him to recover or if there's anything that needs to be done for him to recover. The fear bar is constantly going down and the only way to keep it up is either by lighting matches or eating a chocolate bar. Both are very limited so use them wisely.

Now onto the review.

I actually finished this game like two days ago so I decided to go ahead and make a chapter for it.

When I first played Enigma the atmosphere was pretty good. I always felt stressed wondering when the killer was going to show up or what was going to happen next to the family.

However the more I played it, the more I either wondered 'well okay now what' or 'what the actual fuck'

The chase scenes initially stressed me out to the point I would actually scream and my sister would get yell at me. But that was because I had no idea what the hell I was doing. Once I realized how EASILY I could hide from the killer I was like oh thank goodness that saves me a ton. But, because of how easy it was, I eventually found myself not reacting at all to the killer and actually getting quite bored. The loud sound it made whenever I saw the killer still made me jump don't get me wrong and I actually LOVED the chase music. It wasn't annoying and it was a very very good choice to make.

This next part though is going to sound a little weird and honestly that's because it fucking is. If you are thinking about playing this game and don't want to know TOO much about the game you might want to skip this, if you want that what the fuck moment like I had SKIP THIS. Okay so Minwoo was one of the two female siblings in the game. However, later in the game you will find out that Minwoo was actually adopted. Well even if you are adopted I mean I would still consider you as regular family even if you aren't blood related but that's just me. But in this game the characters couldn't give two shits. LITERALLY one sibling kissed her, one swore she was his true love, and Minwoo actually liked another one of the brothers. I mean I get she's not blood related but man when that was first brought up in the game my actual thoughts were 'please don't go where I think it's going.' And 'what the actual fuck.' I'm not into all those sister complex things so that was a no no for me.

Like I'm sorry but hell fucking no.

On a better note though the music was actually great like I truly enjoyed it and the art style was good too. The plot wasn't actually bad either and I found it quite interesting. The characters I thought were pretty well done too. Like yes they're greedy asses were annoying sometimes but that was the point and the creators did a pretty good job on that part. Even though I complained a lot in this chapter it wasn't that bad of a game.

Going back to the bad side though the game did get a little repetitive some times and started to get very predictable. I guessed maybe 3/4 of that game right but maybe I'm just good I don't know. I also guessed the true end right from ver early on but I don't know if that's just the game being predictable or if I just got lucky. But since it was so predictable for me I didn't really feel much of a shock when something would happen. Also I kind of wish the chase scenes were a bit different. Like the hiding spots made it incredibly easy. I wish that maybe in some hiding spots the killer would find you and in others he wouldn't. But every chase scene would be different so you would never know which hiding spots would work. Kind of like the game Paranoiac (which I'll do a review for it too) but just a littleeeeee less stressful. Instead of one hiding spot working it would be a few.

The last part of the game was also meh but the beginning and middle were actually pretty fun in my opinion. That was when I really felt the stress and unsettling atmosphere and that's what I really wanted to feel in this game. If my asthma gets bad that's when I know they did a good job, at least for the most part.

Would I recommend this? Mm depends. I mean you think at least most of those things I said above won't really bother you than by all means go right ahead. This wasn't a bad game it just had a lot of things that could use some work. Also this game was only 5 dollars on Steam so if you think it's worth it even though you may have no clue if it's going to be good or not I mean I'd say buy it. It could be 20, but if it was 20 I think I would actually cry. And you may personally like it a lot just like many other users on Steam. I was just one of those people who had mixed feelings about it. If you don't think you'll enjoy this game after reading what I just posted this game might not be for you. However, if you are still curious/ unsure about whether or not this game is worth your time, feel free to ask me questions! I may be able to help you decide if this game is right for you or not. If you have any questions about the game anyways let me know and hopefully I will be able to answer it.

Have you played this game before? Let me know what you thought about the game and if you agree or disagree with my own personal experience! I would love to know either way :)

Sayonara bitches.
