Talon's Hollow

Chapter 3

Thanks for being patient while I work on my book ill try to update my story at least once a month. if you aren't following me please do so you can be updated when I post another chapter!

IMPORTANT** If you read Chapter 2 before 8/8/2018 then you should go back and reread it. I rewrote part of the chapter and changed things that are important to the story going forward!

            Justin's entire body went rigid, he stiffened and strained trying to hear more through the thick glass, but no matter what he did he couldn't hear the screaming clearly. He glanced around the room and noticed that the door to the exterior deck was cracked open slightly. Justin cautiously snuck out onto the deck, he took extra care not to close the door all the way so he could get back inside. The dark forest surrounding the cabin echoed with screams, there were so many that he couldn't determine how many people were in trouble, but he knew it was a lot. He squinted in the dark trying to see through the thick trees, but he couldn't see anything through the thick underbrush. Then the screams suddenly stopped leaving the forest in silence except for the leaves rustling in the wind. No, that wasn't right it wasn't the leaves, the air was unusually still. Justin's heart was pounding in his chest, the rustling sound was getting closer.

He tensed and tried to remain still, he suddenly felt as if thousands of eyes were watching his every move waiting for something. The rustling sound stopped several feet away from the cabin, 'The door is still open and it's just right behind me, it's probably just the bears the counselors were walking about. I'll just get back in the cabin fast, so they don't see me.' Justin took a deep breath and spun around as fast as he could, tripping over his own feet he quickly scrambled on all fours to the door, he grabbed it and flung it open with all of his might.

Justin rolled into the room and quickly slammed the door shut behind himself. He quickly pressed his back against the door as hard as he could while still remaining quiet. Justin heard six loud thuds outside on the deck, suddenly the door shook with immense force several times as if someone was slamming their entire body against the heavy armored door. 'Shit! I forgot to flip the door lock switch for this floor!' The door shook violently again, and Justin braced himself even harder against the door preparing for the next impact, but it never came instead outside he heard a strange hollow clicking then suddenly a voice said, "Hey! Open the door! Please I need help!" there was something wrong with the voice it was empty and emotionless.

Justin didn't move, he remained braced against the door. 'That's definitely not a bear...' He heard more clicking then he heard another voice this one he remembered, "Please open the door I'm hurt, and I need help." It was the hollow voice of Jessica.

Shocked Justin said in a low whisper, "Jessica? Is that yo-" but before he could finish his sentence the strange hollow voice of Jessica answered.

"Yes, its Jessica! Quick open the door! Hurry! Open the door!" Justin heard more clicking. It sounded like Jessica but there was something off about the voice, it sounded like a parrot repeating what its owner said.

"I can't open the door I'm sorry." Justin thought back to the rules the head counselor had told them. "Its part of the rules I can't open the door you know that" it took every ounce of self-control Justin had not to let his fear leak into his voice.

Suddenly the assault on the door resumed but with an increased fervor outside he heard several strange voices shouting, "OPEN THE DOOR! OPEN THE DOOR! HELP US!"

Justin pressed his back as hard as he could against the door trying desperately to keep it closed. Despite his efforts he could feel the door starting to slide open, "PETER! MARCUS! GET UP HERE QUICK!" Justin shouted as hard as he could, but the noise only seemed to make the creatures outside even more desperate to get inside the cabin.
