The smell hit Justin before he processed what he was seeing. The stench made him gag, he closed his eyes and tried to calm his stomach. Peter had already vomited in the grass behind him.

The road was coated in gore and body parts, Justin scanned the carnage searching for any signs of life. Arms, legs and fingers were scattered everywhere but there was no sign of anyone still breathing. Justin shone his flashlight up at the large main gate and the electric fence, the gate was wide open but the small red warning lights on the top of the fence were still flashing. Justin heard Peter click on his flashlight and Peter started to walk forward along the edge of the road. He followed behind him taking extra care to avoid the remains on the road.

"Christ, these must be the campers who wanted to leave." Peter paused, Justin saw him shine his flashlight out near the far edge of the road. "Fucking hell." Peter began to shiver, and his voice started to shake, "I-I think that's Jessica." He pointed to an area close to the center of the road.

Justin shone his flashlight where Peter was pointing, he recognized Jessica's head laying amongst the body parts. Her dead eyes bored into Justin's and he could feel a sudden rage building in his chest. He was about to say something when he heard the familiar rustling coming from back towards the camp. The rustling sounded like thunder slowly coming closer and closer.

"What do we do now?" Justin growled as he turned towards the impending horde.

Peter grabbed Justin by the shoulder, "If we stay here we're just going to end up like them." Peter motioned towards the carnage on the road. "If we run we might be able to reach Talons Hollow and get help. If anything, we can lead those things away from the camp."

Justin adjusted his grip on his club, 'He's right, I don't like it, but right now running is the better option.' He nodded and together they began running down the main road towards Talons Hollow. The farther they got from the main gate the quieter it became, Justin kept scanning the forest ahead for any signs of light from the town. It felt like they had been running for hours but it had only been a few minutes. Finally, the trees cleared on both sides of the road revealing the dark empty town of Talons Hollow. Justin was uneasy, the town was dark and he couldn't see any lights or other signs of life. They stopped to catch their breath and listened for the sound of the creatures hunting them.

Peter took a puff of his inhaler and said, "I don't like this, the town seems empty and I doubt we lost those things chasing us."

"I don't see any lights," Justin glanced at his watch, "But it is nearly 1:00am, maybe they're sleeping." Justin stretched trying to catch his breath.

"I'll take the right side and you go on the left and knock on every door we can maybe we can find someone who has a phone." Peter put his inhaler in back in his pocket. "Your walkie talkie is the only one we have, I used mine to distract those things back in the camp."

"Don't worry, I won't lose it. Let's just hurry and get help, I think I can hear them coming up the road." Justin turned his flashlight on and ran over to the first house on the left.
