Morning came with the smell of marijuana and the sounds of sirens in the distance as it always did. However, this morning was nothing like others. This morning Jarrett Michaels awoke with the ring of his iPhone 6. He answered not knowing it was the last person he wanted to talk to thanks to him not being fully awake yet.
"Good Morning Bait"

Cringing at the sound of the scratchy, displeasing voice, I opened my eyes super wide and awoke almost instantly. I barely spoke though, especially when hearing that disrespectful nickname.
"Bait, you there?"
"Yeah man, I'm hear."
"Good, I haven't heard from you in a while."
"Yeah, I know. It's crazy," I played stupid as I always did. Hoping that dry conversation would shorten this moment.
"Bait, I wanna see you."
"Dang. I'm super busy this month. And next month. And then I got school. So unfortunately that probably won't happen anytime soon. Sorry Janaya."
"Oh. I've just really missed you. You're a really good friend of mine. Honestly we both miss you. I hope she can change your mind."
Janaya Brunson was a girl I wanted to pleasure at one point. She had the booty, I was ugly and thirsty at the time, and she was easy. I just wanted something long term to keep me sexually sound until I find the right one to lose my virginity to. However, after the first time we did anything at her house, she had her boyfriend, who I didn't know about until afterwards, and his friends attacked me because she thought I stole something from her room. I could've taken one of them, but five scrawny thug-wanna-be's took their swing at me at once. I honestly don't like jumping because it shows weakness in your ability to handle your own business. What made it worst was the fact that she called me the next day like nothing happened and called me Bait because I always draw out the worst in people in her opinion. She is an absolutely horrible person that I don't want to deal with her. I did what I always do, which was hold my power button and swipe my phone off. I do this to simulate my phone dying. Just like always, when I turned it back on, I got a message notification from "Dirty Hoe🤮" that said "Yo phone always dyin lol. Boy you need a new charger." I had to change her name because she also pinned a baby on my boy Jackson. He was also not that confident in his appearance at the time. It's amazing what a person with low standards will unconsciously put themselves through.

I figured since I'm awake now, I might as well get up. I stood up and looked through my cheap plastic blinds. What I saw was the most beautiful view anyone could ask for. Every morning I saw the same thing, and it still makes my life brighter consistently. I saw the thugs chillin on a door step across the complex, I saw the older guys drinking beers in the grass in front of Mr. Jerry, the neighborhood mechanic's, apartment, and I saw the kids playing hop scotch on the sidewalk while their older sisters and brothers, stood in one big group in the parking lot. I can't get over the beauty of my America. The America where everyone is a family of enemies, fighting one minute and hitting the same girl at the same time the next.

I decided to join the group of teens just off the curb in front of my door since my mom had already left for work. I put some gym shorts and a shirt I got from the Church's "Heart2Heart" family conference and shot to the bathroom to brush my teeth and wash my face. I was hoping the entire time, that they wouldn't move the group while I did this because my bathroom has no window.

I opened my front door and the heat of both the sun and of the tension outside hit my face almost instantly.
"HOLD IT."
I stopped in my tracks because I knew that I had chosen the absolute worst time to come outside blindly.
"Turn around and slowly step backwards toward the sound of my voice."
Out of fear of the weapon being trained onto my head by a boy with a badge and an attitude, I complied. Unfortunately I fear my mom a lot more, and air conditioning ain't free nor is fly extermination. This thought made me reach forward to close my door, but before I could get there this person proved that I had accurately titled him as a boy instead of a man. At the top of his lungs, everyone heard him say "HOLD IT RIGHT THE FUCK THERE BOY."
I imagined being on the news next as I continued to pull the door closed. I could feel the eyes of neighbors, other officers, and the guns in their hands all staring at me. I slowly rose my hands for my own safety and I heard "I'm going in!" being chanted from my right side. Then almost instantly I felt the sweat, breath, and body heat of a 300 pound police officer bear hung me from behind. This feeling was followed my by feet leaving the ground and my hands hitting the ground to attempt to slow my fall. I peaked up and saw black uniforms and large guns aimed at me and my peers. I saw the faces of the smaller children who were just playing and all of them were covered in tears. I felt my knees slowly get wet and throb. I knew I was bleeding as I expected after the way I was thrown to the ground. The pity I had for the neighborhood was strong and growing.

As I thought about these random drug sweeps the Richmond Police did with extra actions, I felt the blood from one knee touch the other knee. I knew this wasn't good. I called out to the officers and asked, "Excuse me, CAN I PLEASE GET A BANDAID?" I was being sarcastic out of hatred for them, but I definitely needed more than a bandaid and I knew they wouldn't hesitate to take my life. I immediately heard someone give orders to cuff me. A little scary 90 pound guy walked toward me and I felt him grab my hands one by one and I heard the clicking of the handcuffs locking together. I got angry at this point.
"AYE MAN ARE YOU FREAKIN SERIOUS RIGHT NOW?"
I heard Andrea cough forcedly, and assumed she was telling me to chill out. I couldn't help it. I'm bleeding and my knees feels like it's been removed. They should help me because they did this. I heard the same voice that said "cuff him," say "Listen boy, we will tase you if you don't shut the hell up and let us do our jobs. Do you not understand that?" I stayed quiet out of worry I had for my Momma's heart to hear I was killed over my mouth. I just laid there and let them finish this horrible sweep. I must have blacked out because pretty soon I saw nothing and heard nothing. I just hoped I wasn't dead from blood loss.
