“Lily, you horrible little cunt, where are you?” She says angrily and sloppily, a side effect of the mixture of alcohol and drugs.
There’s no way I’m ever coming out from behind this couch… I’m so scared…. Somebody please help me….
“LILY YOU BETTER COME OUT OF WHEREVER THE FUCK YOU ARE HIDING THIS TIME SO I CAN WHIP YOUR ASS”
Please... Someone… Anyone…
“POLICE! OPEN UP!”
“MA’AM PUT THE GUN DOWN…..”
*BOOM*
Two days later….
“Hey everyone! Come say hello to Lily. She is our new friend!” Miss Stacey says to all the kids with the curious eyes looking at me.
“Hi Lillyyy!” They all say in unison.
I can’t believe this is happening. What is this place? I remember the police saying something about going somewhere to live with a bunch of new friends. Is this that?
“Hi guys.” I say, a little nervously, and then bury my face into Miss Stacey’s side.
&&
“Hey everyone! We have another new friend today! Come say hello to Austin.” Miss Stacey calls cheerfully across the family room in the orphanage. It’s been almost exactly a year since Miss Stacey said that exact same thing, but with my name in the place of Austin’s. We all walked over to her and the new boy she was standing with.
“Hi Austin!” We all say, once again, in unison.
“Hello everyone.” Austin says with a mix of sadness and disappointment in his voice.
“Well Austin, we’re getting ready for play time, so why don’t you go pick a bed and then take time to get to know all the kids.” Miss Stacey says. “Lily, would you mind showing Austin where he can sleep?”
“Yeah, of course.” I say, a little annoyed, because being the oldest kid here, I always get stuck doing things for Miss Stacey.
“Lily?” Austin asks a little nervously.
“Yes?” I reply.
“You are very pretty.” He says getting a little pink color in his cheeks and smiling a huge glowing smile.
I tuck a piece of black hair behind my ear and look down, obviously blushing and all I can mutter is a dumb “Thanks.”
After a few awkward seconds, I finally think of something to say. “How old are you Austin?”
“I am 11 years old. How old are you?” He asks in return.
“I am only 9!” I say relieved because this means that I am no longer the oldest one here, and he will have to do favors for Miss Stacey now!
“Well, c’mon Austin, the bedrooms are this way.” I say to him.
I show Austin to the bedrooms, and it turns out that the only bed available is the top bunk above my bed.
“Oh… Well, looks like we get to share a bunk bed!” I say to Austin.
“That sounds awesome!” He says with a ton of excitement that catches me by surprise.
“Yeah… So, you can go out into the playroom and meet the other kids, okay?” I ask him.
“Okay.” Austin says. “Wait, Lily? Can I shower first? I haven’t had a shower in a week…”
&&
I am on my way to the bedrooms to get my pajamas, and as I walk by the bathroom, I hear someone singing.
“With the lights out, it's less dangerous
Here we are now, entertain us
I feel stupid and contagious
Here we are now, entertain usA mulatto, an albino
A mosquito, my libido
Yeah, hey, yay.”Whoever it is… They’re singing my favorite song in the world, Smells Like Teen Spirit by Nirvana. I knock on the door and I hear the water turn off immediately, and after some shuffling, Austin opens the door and looks at me with his big brown eyes, and I run away as fast as I can.
&&
“LILY, WHERE THE FUCK ARE YOU AT? IT’S TIME FOR A BIG WHOOPING, YOU ARE IN BIG TROUBLE YOU LITTLE SHIT.”
I am hiding in my toy cupboard in my room hoping and praying that she won’t find me.
“COME OUT COME OUT WHEREVER YOU ARE.”
I let out a small whimper, and she must have heard me because she swings open the door to my room, and I squeeze my eyes shut as tight as I can. I hear her close the door, and after a few seconds, I open my eyes, thinking she had left. My mom is sitting there, staring at me with her big brown eyes.
Thank you for reading guys, and I will be updating as soon as I can! I hope you enjoy :)
