Vanity's POV
There were 10 minutes left for the game to start. The Diamondbacks arrived 2 hours ago and I'm glad to say I haven't seen the devil. All the boys who were in the lineup for today were on the field stretching. I was in the dugout waiting for the game to start. Dave had some last minute calls to take so he told me I was in charge for a while. I kept telling myself it would be okay but deep down I knew something was bound to happen. Stefan was stubborn. I knew he wasn't going to let what I did to him go. He'll do anything to hurt me, he's so psychotic that he'll even hurt the ones I love which is what I'm also afraid of. What if he hurts Corey tonight? I'll never forgive myself. As I'm in thought I hear the speakers tell the audience the starting lineup for the Diamondbacks. Stefan would be on second base tonight. When the Dodgers lineup was next the boys all came into the dugout and sat beside me.
"You'll be okay V" Kike says next to me
"Yeah Van we promise you he won't get near you" Justin says smiling at me
I knew I'd be okay. My boys were here and that made it so much better for me.
"Alright boys gather together! So tonight it's game 1, and we are going to kick some Diamondback ass! I'm proud at whatever you guys do whether we lose or win I'll be proud."
"I couldn't have gave a better speech Vanity" Dave says walking into the dugout
Everyone high fived each other and ran into the field getting into position.
"Let's head on out there" Dave says giving me his hand
I took it and he lead me out onto the field close to the dugout.
I saw my boys in their positions. Seeing them play makes me so happy. It makes all of my hard work feel worth it.
"Alright so it looks like we got this one in the bag I mean not to jinx us or anything but come on their lineup sucks today. They've got their worst players." Dave says
"I wouldn't say their worst Dave. Jake Lambs out there today and he's a pretty good batter. Didn't we try to sign him over?"
"Didn't work out. That kid won't leave the Diamondbacks even if you offered him over 5000,0000 a year"
As the first pitch goes we get a strikeout from Kershaw. Next was Jake and I remember I trained my boys to always go to the left when it came to Jake because that was his hitting spot.
As if on cue all my boys shifted to the left. I smiled proudly that they remembered.
Kershaw tried his best for another strike but just as he threw the ball he threw it too late for Jake to not realize and boom Jake hit it right in the middle sending it flying. Everyone followed the ball with their eyes as they saw it land near Joc's area. And with ease Joc caught it. The crowd roared. I clapped along with everyone. Kershaw looked my way and mouthed me an apology. I mouthed back an "it's okay" knowing he got it because he nodded at me.
Next was.... Stefan. As he was coming up to home plate he was looking all over the place. I knew he was looking for me. Dave noticed my discomfort and pulled me to him. Stefan then gave up and just kept his focus on the ball. Kershaw knew the whole incident with Stefan. He was even joking about how he would purposely throw the ball at his face when he was pitching at him. I hate to admit it but Stefan was a really good player. He may be a douche but he's got the baseball skills. Even Dave admitted it once before all this happened with Stefan. Like I said before Stefan wasn't always bad. In fact Stefan and Dave we really good friends. Even Corey liked him. Without noticing I heard a crack and focused what was happening in front of me. While I was in thought Stefan had made it to 2nd base. And if it was just a coincidence or not but Corey happens to be 2nd basemen today. I looked toward second base and saw Corey trying to keep his distance from Stefan. Before the game I talked with Corey and told him to not do anything stupid today. Which meant to not try and kill Stefan. Next was another Diamondbacks player that I've never really heard of before. I then looked back at second base and saw Stefan talking. I couldn't hear anything but I knew he was talking to Corey or at least trying to. Corey kept looking away until he looked at me straight in the eyes and mouthed "sorry". Oh no.
Before I could yell out to Corey, Corey grabbed Stefan and punched him straight in the face. The crowd gasped and went wild. The Diamondbacks dugout cleared out and ran toward Corey and Stefan. The boys ran over too trying to help. Dave ran out there and I followed. Corey and Stefan were now on the floor. I tried to get in but I felt someone grab me from behind and drag me away.
"Stop what are you?! I need to help Corey!" I turned around to see who dragged me away and it was Cody.
"Listen baby but relax okay. The boys will help Corey but I need to keep you here away from them. You could get hurt." Cody said
"Corey's getting hurt Cody! I can't just stand here!" I said trying to run back to them.
Cody then grabbed me again and held me against him. He picked me up and threw me over his shoulders and started walking to the dugout.
"Cody put me down!" I kept thrashing around trying to get free. I then slapped his ass. That made Cody jump in surprise. I laughed at his reaction but then felt a sting on my butt.
"Owwwww" I yelled
"That's just payback baby, damn I'm loving this view" He said laughing
As he set me down on the benches Corey came into the dugout with a busted lip. All the boys came in as well. Corey went up to me and hugged me. He then let go and stood in front of me. I was pissed. He put himself in danger.
"Listen V I know I messed up and broke our promise but I couldn't listen to that asshole talk anymore. He kept telling me how much a little bitch you were for going to the cops and he would tell me all the things he would do to you. I couldn't take it I tried to ignore him but I just blew up" Corey said
"It's okay Corey I forgive you but next time don't be a dumbass and get into a fight like that. Only Puig can do that" I said jokingly
Puig laughed along with the others.
"What's going to happen with the game? What will they do to you?" I ask worriedly
"Dave is talking with them right now. I'm not sure V" Corey says
