(Y/n) POV

As we got closer back to the campsite, the sound of a high-pitched voice causes me to jump.

"(Y/N)!", Nikki yells, popping in between me and Max at alarming speeds. "Neil and I were just looking for you!" Neil appears soon after, walking up from behind Nikki whilst aiming a look towards Max.

"Yeah", Neil mutters suspiciously, "We were just looking for you"

"Oh shut your fucking mouth, Neil. She was having a mini panic attack after the performance and I was helping her calm down", Max snaps, glaring at Neil with words I could only guess. Neil's lips twitch upwards for a brief moment.

"Sure you were"

Before either of the two could continue, Nikki leaps forward excitedly, dragging me along with a bright smile. I essentially have to catch myself before I trip.

"We've just been told that we're going to have a movie night tonight, (Y/n)!" Nikki beams, shooting me an excited grin. I offer a small smile back.

"That's wonderful", I acknowledge.

The next few minutes are spent in silence. Nikki continued to drag me as Max and Neil proceeded to trail behind. Not too long after, we ended up spotting a frantically pacing David. The deep in thought instructor finally notices us.

"Max! (Y/n)! Where did you two go?", David asks alarmed. I scratch the back of my neck as Max clears his throat.

"(Y/n) had a panic attack. She ended up running into the woods so I went with her" Max explains, shoving his hands into his hoodie nonchalantly. David shakes his head in what I figured to be a disappointment.

"Max, you should have told her she was going the wrong way!", the camp instructor declares, crossing his arms across his chest as he gives a pointed look at Max.

"I wasn't thinking, David", I intervene. The instructor once again shakes his head but instead lets out a sigh.

"Well, I'm just happy that Nikki and Neil at least found you guys. We are now on our next, and sadly last, activity of the day" David objects, I purse my lips together as Max gives the instructor a skeptical look.

"Which is...?"

"Woodcarvings!" David beams, opening up the doors to the mess hall to reveal the sight of all the kids impatiently sitting at tables with logs in front of them. I swear I saw one of the kids' eyes twitch. Gwen was up at the front, just about finished explaining what I assumed to be instructions.

"...And now you know how to cut and carve a stump." Gwen wraps up before the female instructor finally notices us. One of her brows raise.

"Oh. You guys found (Y/n) and Max. Good, now go to your seats and start carving", she directs, pointing towards one of the more unoccupied tables.

"Oh goody," Nikki exclaims with excitement while Max rolls his eyes in an unimpressed boredom.

"Fucking, yay"

We all got situated at the table. I stared at my log thoughtfully, trying to pinpoint what I could carve in the piece of wood in front of me. I hum to myself as my hand grabs the small saw tool off on the side.

"Fuck"

My attention immediately snaps away from my thoughts as my eyes travel to the host of the voice. Max was slightly gripping his fingers as the sight of blood seems to leak through his palm. My eyes slightly widen.

"What happened?" I ask Max. By this point, Nikki and Neil have also taken notice of Max's new injury.

"Nothing much. Just cut myself", Max answers casually, though I don't miss the way the boy winces a little. I sigh and get up from the table.

"I'll go and get David"

"No!" Max immediately intervenes. "I don't want that goddamn instructor to do anything! He'll most likely stick on a damn sparkly band-aid and call it good, I'll live", the boy whisper-yells. Nikki and Neil nod their heads in sync, confirming Max's statement. You snicker to yourself a little, imagining the boy with a bright pink band-aid that you would see on a toddler.

"Makes sense. But if you say so", you chuckle under your breath before sitting back down.

A good hour passes by. Just about half of the campers have finished their carvings while a good majority looked just about done. You had finished yours a little while back, as a result, you ended up helping Nikki complete her own. The younger camper had decided to go with a very scary looking bear with teeth that could actually penetrate your skin if you weren't careful. Nikki had made it a necessity to include.

"Look at all of these carvings! They all look fantastic and amazing" David acknowledges enthusiastically as he passes by all the carvings. Not long after, Gwen appears in the front of the room before banging two pans in her hands quite loudly. You resist covering up your ears.

"Alright campers! We're gonna have you all clean up now! Its about time for dinner", she yells over the booming conversations amongst kids. All the kids groan.

After dinner, I trail Nikki silently alongside Max and Neil towards Gwen and David's cabin. Nikki skips and hums to herself with a smile etched across her face.

"Oh, I can't help myself! We get to stay up and watch a movie in Gwen and David's cabin!" Nikki begins. "Can you believe it!?"

"I do", Max muses, offering me a side glance. I feel myself recall earlier events as a blush silently sneaks across my cheeks. Nikki knocks on the cabin door as soon as we reach the log house, Gwen is the first to answer.

"Oh. You guys ready?"

Nikki doesn't wait for an answer and runs right past Gwen and inside, soon followed by the rest of us.

(Max POV)

Before we get very far in, David pulls me aside and away from the crowd. I give him a narrowed stare.

"What is it, David?", I snap, ushering him on to finish up whatever he wants to ask. Neil huffs and jabs a finger into my chest.

"What actually happened back there, after (Y/n)'s performance? I know when you are lying Max", David states as his eyes narrow down onto me. I feel myself become slightly nervous but I don't show any indication of so.

"I told you, dad, she had a panic attack" I roll my eyes. David's lips purse together before a small smile etches on his lips.

"Well then. Her mother should've told me ahead of time! I might as well ask if she has any other problems", David implies, before heading towards the phone before dialing something into it.

"Wait! Wait!" I yell, David looks back at me curiously. "I fingered her"

The instructor chokes on air.

"You did what-?!"

"You heard me. I fingered her, geez. Is it really that big of a deal?", I sigh. "Now can I please go join the others already? This is a pretty shitty conversation".

"No! Like, um", David looked really awkward, for a moment I thought about taking a picture to use as blackmail. "It...It wasn't forced, was it?", he asked hesitantly. I make a face of disgust.

"What do you think? Of course! I'm not some asshole rapist!", I yelled throwing my hands up into the air. David visibly relaxes, but the awkwardness still lingered. "Happy?!", I hiss, the instructor nods his head.

"Yeah. Okay. I'm still disappointed in you but okay"

I mutter a small 'tch' under my breath and walk away, joining (Y/n) and the others waiting patiently on the couch with Gwen as they scroll through a list of movies. (Y/n) notices me enter the room and smiles at me, I feel myself smile back.
