(Y/n) POV

The two of us remained cuddled, snuggled together under the covers as the night passes by. I was exhausted, but at this point, I felt it necessary to return to my tent. I unwrap myself from the tired form of Max and proceed to get up. A grip on my wrist resists letting go.

"Stay"

I feel my cheeks heat up slightly but nod my head anyway, tucking myself right back under the sheets with Max.

"You did what!?"

I felt my eyes flutter open at the sound of yelling and increase of light. I groan a little and rub at my eyes, noticing David and Max right outside seemingly arguing.

"Max what the heck!? It was already disappointing enough to hear about yesterday, but this is unbelievable!", the voice of instructor David yells.

"Shush! You're going to end up waking the whole camp!", the voice of Max whispers. A deep and very frustrated sigh escapes from the instructor's lips.

"We can talk about this later in my cabin. But don't touch her again until we talk!", David whisper-yells. You feel your cheeks brighten at the memory of the last few nights.

"Got it. Dad"

Soon after, the outline of David disappears and the air goes silent. Not long after, I hear a small sigh before Max re-enters the tent. A look of surprise crosses his expression noticing I'm awake.

"How much did you here?", he asks visibly tense. I purse my lips together.

"Sleeping with me, the whole 'dad' thing, and you're supposed to meet up with him sometime later today?", I raise a brow. The boy pinches his nose.

"To start out with, I was adopted by him when I was younger. Just don't mention it to the other campers for now. But long story short, David caught us sleeping together and now I gotta clear some things with him" Max rolls his eyes, but I don't miss the dark circles under them.

"Can I ask something real quick?"

"Yeah, sure?", the boy blinks confused.

"What spurred him on to adopt you?", I ask curiously tilting my head. Max scratches the back of his head.

"I was a neglected kid" he shrugs. "My parents weren't the best, and David just so happened to catch them in action", I give Max a sympathetic look. "As a result, David took the time to adopt and win me over in court. Pretty much saving me from those bastards", Max finishes with a small croak in his voice. I offer a gentle smile.

"Well it's good to know you're in a better place now", I pique up, "I love you, but we need to get dress now", I remind. Max nods his head in agreement.

Max POV

By the time (Y/n) had left, the coffee machine was just about finished brewing up a batch of coffee. The sound of the tent's flaps opening up alert me immediately. Neil appears right around the corner.

"Hey, Max just saw-" I quickly halt Neil from talking further, sticking my hand out in front of him.

"I haven't had my coffee yet. You should know this by now Neil, no talking to me until I've had my brew". Neil nods in silence as the coffee machine finally finished. Grabbing the pot, I pour myself some into a mug. I take a long sip and sigh in bliss, not long after ushering a patient Neil to continue.

"I saw (y/n) walk out of your tent!" the boy exclaims. I sigh and give Neil a pointed look.

"So...do you just want me to admit I have a crush on (Y/n), or what? What's the hassle?" I curiously asked, annoyed by Neil's persistent nature recently.

"I was right", Neil mutters under his breath, "I was right! Nikki is going to pay up!", the boy excitedly cheers. I narrow my brows in irritation.

"Did you bet on me if I had a crush on (y/n) or not?"

"Yeah! And I won!", Neil continued to excitedly exclaim. "But that doesn't answer my main question, why was (Y/n) here?" I roll my eyes.

"Slept together. Nothing big" I mumble, taking another sip out of my mug.

"You got laid last night!" I offer Neil an aggravated look.

"Other things, Neil. Other things", I correct. This time it's Neil's turn to roll his eyes.

"You know David is not going to be happy with this", the boy warns as I shrug.

"Too late for that. Caught (Y/n) with me in bed" I explain, taking a final sip from my coffee mug.

"Damn"

"Don't shove it in my face. You know better", I threaten Neil before exiting the tent. The sunlight hits my face in its bright fury, but for once, I don't feel too terrible about attending camp today.
