Arielle hated being the new girl.

She had to act a certain way, and it was hard the first five times, but now at the tenth time, everyone's opinions didn't faze her. She really didn't care. Of course, it still sucked majorly, but she didn't pay attention to anyone or anything at the new schools she arrived at, only the education she received. School work was her getaway, she didn't have to think because she spent all her thought on her education.

She walked through Midtown High with her head down, her headphones blasting her favourite songs to distract herself from the stares and whispers. They would stop soon, she told herself. Eventually, they would stop paying any attention, that's how it always worked out.

She made her way to her first class, avoiding any eye contact and focusing on her work. She didn't talk to anyone and with the girls who at least tried to say hi, Arielle just nodded with a smile, and her eyes focused back on her study.

By the time Lunch came, Arielle informed herself about every inch of Midtown High, and she paid attention to the people here, mostly the popular girls and boys, as you would call the most known people in the school.

She walked into the cafeteria. She hated this part, trying to find somewhere to eat in peace. She looked around and saw a table with only two boys and a girl sitting alone. She decided to change her routine up a bit and sit on that table.

She grabbed her food and walked over, finding a spare space next to the girl, opposite her. Slowly, she sat herself down and grabbed a book she had been reading since last night, and she intended to fill her lunch break reading it.

She could feel the stares from the people who sat on this table, she didn't mind it. Maybe it was a good idea to make friends, even if it hurt her in the end.

She looked up from her book to see the two boys staring at a girl hanging a homecoming poster up, they obviously had a crush on her. The girl opposite her just stared at her questionably, raising an eyebrow at her.

Arielle decided to ignore it and smile at the girl, and then bringing her attention back to her book. But not for long, as her attention was caught by the two boys beside her, staring aimlessly at the girl hanging the poster. Arielle couldn't help but listen into them talking about her.

"Did Liz get a new top?" The guy questioned and she recognized him as Ned Leeds from her history class and the boy next to her, Peter Parker. She could tell they were best friends.

"No. We've seen that before, but never with that skirt." he replied directly to his best friend, but never taking his eyes of the girl. "We should probably stop staring before it gets creepy though."

"Too late. You guys are losers."

"Well, then why do you sit with us?" Ned asked, shrugging. She suddenly felt eyes on her. It was Peter, he was looking straight at her. She looked away quickly, attention focused back upon her book, choosing to ignore it.

"Because I don't have any friends." the girl replied.

Suddenly someone sat beside her, at first she thought it was someone random, and she didn't mind. She just tried to lose herself in her book, well, she tried.

"You're the new girl, right?"

She looked up to see a boy she recognized as Flash Thompson, staring at her, so much that it was starting to make her extremely uncomfortable.

"Yeah, that's me. The new girl." Arielle just sighed and put her head down, once again, trying to ignore the guy she knew as Flash.

Flash just stared even harder, then scanned her whole appearance. "Ah. Well, new girl. I'm Flash. It's defiantly a pleasure to meet yo-" Suddenly he was cut off by Peter Parker himself, who could sense how uncomfortable Arielle was.

"Hey, Arielle? Would you like me to show you around before next period starts?"

Arielle looked up, raising her eyebrow at Peter. She didn't need him helping her out of a situation like that. She could have handled flash on her own.

Arielle didn't need friends, she was fine by herself. She was always fine by herself. It was the way it was. Arielle moved schools, Arielle had no friends. It wasn't as if she didn't want them, she always wanted them. She just couldn't afford losing someone else, not after Mia. She couldn't afford getting close to anyone else. She wasn't going to get hurt.

Arielle grabbed her book, staring straight at Peter. "No, I'm okay, thanks. I already know my way around here." She smiled, not genuinely though.

Peter frowned, and Arielle walked straight out of the cafeteria. Glancing back at Peter to see everyone else not being fazed by her leaving. But he was, and he was staring straight at her.

She just sighed, and turned to walk away.
