CHAPTER 1 : Totally Confusing
It's spring, right when the temperature starts to warm up, but still cool. So when I come home, I put on my sneakers and change into a sports bra under a t-shirt.
As I walk through the door Serena yells to me, "Hey Cecily, pick up that photography book from the Blazer, please!"
I slammed the door shut and jogged outside. I loved my best friend, don't get me wrong, but she was a total bookworm and a photography geek. And living with her was only worse.
Park Slope is the perfect place to take a walk. Especially on days like this. So I take my time and jog down the block. I imagine myself back on the soccer team, and pretend to kick a ball between my feet.
"Hey, Cecily!" yells a guy behind me, knocking me out of my dream. He reaches for my shoulder. I elbow him in the gut.
"What was that for?" he asks. The guy sounds familiar, but I can't quite remember.
"Did you really have to touch me?" I ask.
"Well, it depends if I know you. It's not like I do it on a regular basis." He replies with a laugh.
"Wait, how do you know my name?" I say.
"I'm Shane remember? Amber's friend? Soccer team? Ring a bell?"
"OH." That's where I recognized his voice from. I've sorta been dreaming about him lately. Long story.
"Yeah. I noticed your foot work. Mind if I join you?"
"Not really." I say inconspicuously. He wants to walk with me?
