Chapter 9

"Mr Satoh. Mr Satoh. Hak?"

"Yeah, yeah, what?" I wiped my brow of the beads of sweat that were beginning to form.

"Well, Hak, we should probably go inside class. I-I-If that's ok with you?" Adzumi suggested as he searched my face for a sign indicating what was bothering me.

I couldn't let the heat take over. There was no reason for it to come so suddenly, and I shouldn't let there be a reason.

"Are you ok, Hak?" Adzumi inquired with concern.

I provided the boy a nod of confirmation, signifying that we should make our way into class.

"Ok, I'll introduce you to our homeroom teacher. Mr Yoshida is very nice, I'm sure you will like him," Adzumi reassured as we made our way into the classroom.

The class itself posed significant in regards to cleanliness. The walls were pristinely clean and white, suiting well with the oak polished wooden desks. No aspect of the classroom had been vandalised nor turned over due to a fight in the early morning. Very different from my previous high school.

"Good morning Mr Yoshida. How are you keeping? This is Mr Hak Satoh, he will be joining our class," Adzumi lead me over to our homeroom teacher, who's name I knew I would certainly forget.

Teachers never faired well in my books. They were arrogant and complete fault-finders-I took a real stand against them, as they did towards myself.

"Mr Satoh, it is pleasure to meet you," a middle aged man with black hair peppered with grey strands, approached us. He offered a customary bow which I weakly offered back in return.

"I'm sure you will have an excellent academic career here at Kibo High Academy. I just was very impressed with you entrance exam results-"

"Entrance exams?" I interrupted Mr Yoshida with my confusion.

"Yes, the entrance exams you partook in, to be placed at this prestigious academy," he proudly stated, with slight confusion as to why my question arose.

I was certainly sure I did not partake in any entrance exams. I had assumed it would be very hard for a person with my wrap sheet to even step foot in the parking lot of Kibo High. Yet, I had never even taken to thought how I got in this school. I took an entrance exam to be placed at my previous school, but the results were painfully average. However, Kuroitoshi's secondary education system was not very partial and they pretty much accepted any sap who showed their faces at class. So for Mr Yoshida to make particular reference to how he was impressed with my results for an exam I certainly did not take, posed to be the thousandth question I had this week, and it was only Monday.

"Mr Satoh, would you like to introduce yourself to the class?" Mr Yoshida kindly suggested.

My eyes grew involuntarily wide, like porcelain saucers. Mr Yoshida gave a hearty chuckle.

"Perhaps not. Why don't you stand at the front for the morning greeting, I will introduce you to the class, and assign you to your seat. Does that sound suitable?" The cheery teacher inquired, as I gave a stern nod conveying my utter appreciation to not be speaking to the class.

Adzumi gave me an encouraging smile as he made his way to his seat. I pondered giving him a 'thank you' but decided against the idea. Students filtered into the class one by one, as they stopped mid conversation to give me a stern look over. The male students wore expensive watches that glistened under the morning light that shone through the class windows. They gave me a stare down which I returned back hundredfold. They seemed to back off after that.
