Chapter 14

"Captain Ushijima, I'm here," Tendou announced, closing the door behind him as he entered the captain's room. "No matter how much I guess, I can't figure out why you called me here."

Ushijima sat on his bed, observing Tendou. He hesitated to speak, for once not knowing what to say. "I missed you."

"Eehh?! Wakatoshi-kun misses me? That's a first!" Tendou laughed, more happy than he should be. His heart missed a beat when he heard those words. A sudden thought crawled it's way into Tendou's mind, causing him to stop laughing almost immediately. This is my chance to kill him. To save Yahaba and more people.

"Have something on your mind?" Ushijima rose a brow in concern at the mood drop. Tendou waved his hands wildly and shook his head no as he took a few steps backwards. "Anyways.. Update me. How close are we to the other ship?"

Tendou felt sympathy for whoever they were tailing. "Pretty close. The lookout reported them being caught by a storm and— and their ship crashed against a nearby island."

"Hm. Good."

Good?! What the fuck! What a jerk! Has he any sympathy?! Tendou's hands curled into fists. "Yeah, I guess." Then again.. When was the last time he wasn't a jerk?

"Tendou, I found a bird with a injured wing." Ushijima frowned, his small hands holding onto a bird. "I don't know what species it is though.."

"Ushijima!! That's a sparrow!" Tendou gasped. His friend tilted his head in confusion. "Don't you know that sparrows have a very bad reputation? When someone seems to be very sick, they will fly to that person, and then leave so they don't have to experience the death, and to warn others not to fly near there!"

Ushijima's eyes sparkled in awe. "You know so much! I don't even know half those words."

"I'm the best, aren't I?"

"I've heard that you have a pet sparrow and that birds don't care if you go near them or not.." Ushijima stared into Tendou's eyes, almost in disapproval. "Do you know what that means?"

Tendou's smile weakened. "You always could read me like a book, Wakatoshi-kun."

Ushijima stood up, and made his way over to shake Tendou's shoulders. "You're going to die!"

"I'm nothing compared to those who already lost their lives to me."

"What?!" Ushijima began to tremble in rage. "You're better than anyone I know! I won't allow you to die. I forbid it."

Tendou didn't bother to move Ushijima's hands off his shoulders. "I'll try not to die, I guess."

Kei groggily opened his eyes to see someone carrying him bridal-style. He didn't recognize the person at first, but as he looked at him more, it dawned on him. "Captain?" Kei questioned weakly, slightly squinting. Koutarou glanced at him and send him a quick smile before turning his attention to the path ahead.

"I'm glad you're awake, Kei. How do you feel?"

"I feel horrible. Why are.." Kei stopped mid sentence, a though occurring to him. Where is he? "Is Tadashi.. Is he okay?"

Koutarou nodded, and called out to someone Kei didn't recognize in his weak state. "Oi, Oikawa! How much longer?"

"Stop being so impatient." Oikawa frowned, him a few steps ahead. "It's right over there, see?"

Kei's eyes drooped, and he fought to stay awake. "Tadashi.. poison.." he managed to cough out, thinking out loud. "Find.. antidote.."

"What does that.."
