From the kitchen to the dining table, Cynthia hummed. The news about the release of eleven more girls was more than thrilling. She continued humming as she ate. Caleb was repeatedly hitting his fork on his plate, his brow quirked as he looked at her with his chin cupped in the other hand.
“What is it dear?” she asked.
“You are humming.”
“Oh, that.” Cynthia smiled as she reached across the table to his hand, “I’m just happy, sweetie. Mommy heard a great news.”
“Well,” Caleb began tentatively, “The health education teacher said that it was wrong to hum when you eat, she said the food may fall in the wrong place.” He said with a mildly reprimanding look.
“I know baby.” Cythia replied, half amused. “Quick, let’s eat. I’ll get you some great tattoo for listen to your health education teacher.”
Caleb happily ate till his plate was wiped clean of greens he usually resists. Cynthia could imagine the halo and rainbow playing in his mind at the thought of the fake tattoos.
She packed the plates, dropped them in the sink, rushed to her room to check for her purse and returned to Caleb who smiled at her, looking cute in his blue shirt and black jeans pants. Cynthia felt bliss, as she reached for the door. When she opened, her heart skipped a bit.
Bello stood before her with a brilliant smile on his face. Amanda, the lady from the police department was standing by Bello’s car smiling at the sight. With a gesture that assured Cynthia that there was nothing to worry about.
Mr and Mrs Blake waved at her from the front of their house before they entered through the gate. Cynthia was all joy.
Caleb ran and hugged Bello. Cynthia smiled again.
